What is the shelf life of this product? Does it need to be refrigerated?

When I was a kid in England (50s/60s) we always had a can in the pantry. Still do here in Kansas. It kept/keeps for years. If really old it would crystalize but it would never be inedible. Anyway you need to be careful with dates on British foods, they are 'best before' not expiration.

I bought the 6 pack, but the ingredient list says: partially inverted refiners syrup. what is that? is it not cane sugar syrup,like the single bottle?
