Mike Meyers' CompTIA Security+ Certification Guide, Second Edition (Exam SY0-501) 2nd Edition

This is the second Mike Meyers' book I've used to prep for a cert test. The Network+ book was excellent as well. I've found over the years that if a person has a teaching style that you can really use, stick to that. Mr. Myers presents everything in such a manner that is just totally easy to read, easy for me to learn and, most importantly, easy to remember. My only real criticism is that I wish there were more free content on the included CD, but hey, he has to make a living, too! In the end, I'd call this book my 9-iron as it was the most important tool I used to prep for the test. I read it through once, then did some online practice tests that I purchased from another company, then I went back and read this through a second time. Boom! Test passed first try. Thanks again, Mike!

Between the book and the video series (set to 1.25 speed), I passed the exam on the first time and felt that it was a lot easier than when I took the Network+ exam.Mike goes over a ton of real world scenarios while staying relevant. I felt that the text was often fun to read and enjoyed context he provided.

I bought another Security+ book to study for the exam, since I couldn't find this version in Japan... I really wish I'd found it earlier! I did eventually find it, and used it as my secondary resource in preparing for the exam, and it helped enormously. The other book was... useful, but awfully dry. Mike Myers does a much better job of taking material that could be dry and tedious, and makes it far more interesting. This book made studying fun again!By the way, I took and passed the exam on my first try, so thank you Mr. Myers!

Mike advises (in his Security+ video) to follow along with his book. All of the material is there and more, but the order of the chapters and sections do not follow his video course making one occasionally freezing the screen and scrambling trying to find where the book is with relation to his video. I would have given it 5 stars otherwise. As I said all of the material is in the book for the certification exam as well as extra details all written very well and made interesting. Each chapter ends with a series of questions that you had to pay attention to answer correctly. Definitely recommend this book.

I studied different domains in this book on and off for about 7 months and it definitely helped me pass the SEC+ exam, if i was to rate the practice tests/ ''total tester'' on the CD I would give it a 2/5. The practice exams on the CD are kind of a joke compared to Professor messer's practice exams but overall the questions on the actual exam are somewhat more intricate than either the CD practice exam or professor messer's practice exams.

Mike Meyer , this man is a tech scientist, IT books with CompTIA are very helpful to those who are seeking IT positions, see how detail his books are, Look at the high IT demands in our economy, every business needs an IT team and more just to security their systems, so rather than spending life and expenses going to college and still don't make the kind of money you think you should, study per-portionately, get IT certified, study step by step in any field you may be interested in and make money while you become an asset to the employment world of as you give yourself and family a wonderful life.

I have bought three books on tbis subject and this one is the most enjoyable to read. I am studying for the certification exam and find that reading several books helps. Mike Meyers' book has the most conversational style and I really enjoy that when reading technical material.

Brilliant content. Recommend as a foundation in cybesecurity. Mike Meyers knows his stuff. Check out his Security+ videos as well.

Livro com boa dinâmica, ótimos exemplos com uma boa leitura e um pouco de simulados é possível passar na prova de certificação, recomendo este livro para os que querem tirar a certificação. Vale a pena cada centavo gasto.
