Is this the same as Vitamin B-3 Nicotinamide?

Apparently not. Label indicates "Niacinamide is an essential member of the B-vitamin family".

it is a very small capsule, not a coatd pill. you could open the capsule and hide in a nice tablespoon of applesauce. for the good you get from the pill, worth taking that way. good luck.

is there a difference in the oral vs the topical form?

It is the same B3, which some believe supports the mitochondria in the cells. I'm not a scientist and don't actually know if either actually does. I am 76 and on the tennis court 3 to 5 times a week. The only other supplement I take is C. I've still lost muscle mass over the last 10 years so it is not a magic bullet.

One of my favorites.

Can't take niacin. The flush is overwhelming. This works just great, no flush. I take it in the morning it will interfere with sleep. Easy to swallow.

It is really non-flushing.

It is really non-flushing. Be careful taking high dosages. I had no problem because I already adapted. It does not do a good job reducing cholesterol by I'm severely reactive to ALL statins including the newest. A poor medication might be better than no medication.
