Guage is easy to use. Made the job of checking sprocket alignment easy. My motorcycle has a chainguard over the top run of the chain (is difficult to remove) so I made the alignment check on the bottom run of chain. The supplied rod works fine, but to get an even better indication of any error of alignment of front and rear sprockets, I used a number 7 knitting needle (= 4.5 MM diameter) which was the same diameter as the supplied rod, but roughly twice the length .

Overall, a useful bit of kit, but the sighting rod is really too short. I substituted a long brass rod, and it's much better.

Tool itself seems OK but as others have said rod will be too short for accurate adjustment. I expected this, and nearly ordered the knitting needle someone else said they got but thought I'd wait and see. Rod length on my one is one 181mm and rod diameter is 3.985mm, so a No8 Knitting needle at 35cm long and 4mm diameter should work, which I have ordered. Other person said his took a 4.5mm No7 one, so it seems we are not all getting the same item delivered.

Simple design- but does the job. I was surprised how far off my rear wheel was!! Well worth the money
