A simple spool of twine that absolutely did not consent to becoming mythology.
I bought this butcher’s twine to tie a chicken. What I actually purchased was *authority*. When I pulled the end of the twine from the spool, it did not unravel. It *presented itself*. Calm. Prepared. Like it had been waiting. This twine is thin. Yes. So is a scalpel. And yet we trust those with our lives. I wrapped it around a stuffed chicken breast and immediately felt more capable than I had any right to be. The chicken did not resist. The twine understood the assignment. Is it sturdy? Yes. In a quiet way. Not loud rope energy. More like *I do my job and leave no evidence* energy. Some people say the knots slip. That is because this twine demands respect. You do not casually knot it. You *commit*. Once properly tied, the hold feels ceremonial. Like the chicken has agreed to the process. I have since used this twine for: • Trussing poultry • Securing herbs • Bundling things that needed discipline • Standing there holding it and feeling competent • Briefly considering a career as a butcher The spool itself is generous. Endless, almost. I will never reach the end in this lifetime and that feels comforting. Is it food safe? Yes. But more importantly, it *feels* food safe. Like it would be offended if you suggested otherwise. This twine does not show off. It does not fray. It does not beg for attention. It simply appears when needed and disappears when its duty is complete. Five stars. Would trust with meat. Would trust with secrets.

Small spools of small diameter cotton string
Pictures lead me to believe I was getting 2 good size spools of regular cotton butcher twine. In fact you get two SMALL spools of THIN cotton butcher twine. Notice string diameter is 1mm! I didn't read closely enough and ASSUMED it was normal 2mm butcher twine. Since it is only 1mm diam, these spools are about 25% the size I was expecting. No pictures showed relative size. Even so, I could have lived with that if it has worked effectively anyway. I was almost out of my normal butcher twine so I bought these to replace it. That was NOT a good choice. We were ATTEMPTING to use this STRING (definitely NOT twine) to tie up the summer sausage chubs we were making. That is the primary usage for my butcher twine. There were 2 problems: 1. When trying to tie a REAL tight knot around the end of the chub, the string broke numerous times. 2. The string is more "slippery" than my old butcher twine was. Even tying a REAL tight knot on the end of the chub (when the string DIDN'T break), the knot would fairly easily slip down the summer ssg casing as we tried to tie the chub in half (making 2 smaller chubs out of 1 bigger chub), and pop off the end and we'd have another mess and have to try tying that chub up from the start again. This also happened multiple times. My old twine grabbed onto that summer ssg casing much more firmly. Anyway, I HAD to use this string to finish up my sausage making, so I can't return it, but am buying a "normal" roll of 2mm "regular" butcher twine today and I'll try to find some other use for that 1mm stuff. I think people using this in their KITCHEN for making a meal, tying up a roast or a chicken or whatever, it would work fine. Doesn't need to be so strong, and string slipperiness isn't an issue. UPDA TE: Vivify saw my unsatisfied review and offered a full refund on their own without any such request by me. I did accept and they did give me the refund. Thank you! So no harm done, and in the end it was my fault for not noticing the string diameter, but Vivify gave me the refund anyway.

I needed twine for cooking in the oven that didn’t fall apart or affect the quality of the dish. This met my needs.
