They screw. hard packed earth. Came loose with far less force than claimed
Easy to install but holding strength varies quite a bit depending on soil. I would have preferred the 36โ

These things are incredibly robust. I do wish they included the connector cable since in this form that's pretty much required for them to be useful, but the product itself is great either way. I know they're often used as hold-downs for tents, structures, etc. but for what it's worth they're also great mud anchors for winching / recovery operations. I have two now and use them in a pair about 10' apart with the winch pulling on a strap between the two. You can obviously get additional holding power with more anchors as long as you make sure the load pulls equally on all of them.
