If you use the camera indoors, is there a way to turn off the camera while you are home?

Accepted Answer

Two things:
1) If you plan on ONLY using it indoors, then go with the NEW cheaper $60 Ring camera. It is intended for indoor use only AND still uses the old motions zones instead of the motion arch. Plus it offers all the same benefits as this camera (except it is indoor use only).

2) I too had a similar question when I purchased the new Ring Indoor camera for $60. My solution was to purchase an Amazon Smart Plug. Then, in the Alexa app I an event to at a specific time to turn the smart plug on and a second event to turn it off. I don't need the camera on when I'm home and I wanted a way to automate the process. It works great.

Question 2

I don’t like the blue light that comes on when it records because it can be seen at night. If I put a sticker over the blue light will it still work?

Accepted Answer

Yes it will still work. The blue light is really terrible — it lights up the whole room and wakes up our child. If you’re using this to protect your house it just alerts the bad guy that there is a light. I don’t really see the point of not being able to turn it off in the software. I used black duct tape and that took care of the dumb light.

How long does the battery last with one charge?

Surprisingly long battery life on initial charge! We are over 30 on the initial charge and still have over 40% battery life left on each of the 3 stickup cams. All are set to use all features, outside, freezing temps, snow etc. on a single  charge.
