Brilliant fun and possibly factual
* SummaryMany college-level coder are, without their knowledge, individually contributing to a rogue ex-senior military coder bent on revenge for being unfairly sacked. Once paid, the coders who contribute are killed. One such coder is in line to be killed, but lucky for him, is being arrested by John McClane and the two begin to try and sort out the three-level attack on the countries infrastructure with many physical attacks and loss of lives. Its a race against time as who wins?* CommentaryIt's written in the late 1990s so if it turned accurate in the decades following is good design information. The three leads work well, Bruce Willis, Justin Long and Timothy Olyphant. The technical integration of computers and services and the intense level of complexity with low security between these systems is possibly true. It's a good movie that stands up to repeated viewing.Update:I have researched online about 'I.O.T' (Internet of Things) and this film plot is possible in parts. If you want to see just use Youtube and the broader information of the web and google I.O.T. The stories I have come up with are thought-provoking. For example, you can buy a web-enabled kettle. This has poor design security. A hacker can use WiFi to get around this poor security to find the password to your router and get into your computer network. Another, a web-enabled car can be hacked to block your key and lock you out of it and be held to ransom. It's very sad the actor is succumbing to a form of Dementia. My dad passed away with this and other complications. It's a terrible way to go.

McClane is BACK!
Die Hard first started in 1988 and then followed up with Die Hard 2 in 1990 and then Die Hard with a vengeance in 1995. It was therefore a 12 year gap before Die Hard 4 was released. For those of you who aren't familiar with the movie here is the background of the story and characters.John McClane is an NYPC Cop...with an attitude. He never plays by the rules and does things his way. He was married to Holly McClane and they have two children. He is renowned for breaking the rules and in the first three films he is challenged beyond all limits with various terrorists attacking various people and places.Die Hard: John McClane goes to visit his estranged wife Holly at Christmas Time over in Los Angeles. She works at the Nakatomi Building and John kind of gatecrashes the party in an attempt to make peace with Holly. In the middle of the party Hans Gruber and his men show up. Their intention is to steal the money that is stashed in the buildings vault making them millionaires. It is John McLane's intention to not only stop them but save the hostages they have taken as well one of which is his wife.Die Hard 2: A group of terrorists are taking over Dulles Airport and are threatening to start crashing airplanes unless their demands are met. John McClane is there to meet his wife Holly who is one of those airplanes. McClane realises that the airport security and police can't handle this sort of threat so goes it alone in a bid to stop the terrorists from carrying out their threat.Die Hard with a Vengeance: A man calling himself Simon decides to play a game of `Simon Says' with McClane. John accidentally gets caught up in a game that could turn deadly. A Harlem dry cleaner is added into the mix (played by Samuel L Jackson) and together they play the game with the hope of catching this madman before people get killed by his threats of a bomb exploding in a local school. They soon discover that not only does this man have the potential to blow places up, but he is after the gold that is stored at the Federal Reserve Bank. After the 12 year gap they brought us Die Hard 4. Expectations were high, especially for McClane fans like me. What they brought us didn't disappoint.Thomas Gabriel is a bitter man. He is determined to halt the entire US with any means possible. He want's everybody to know the power that he has and just what he is prepared to do to prove his point. In the opening of the film we meet Matt Farrell who is an ordinary young man except his hobby is to hack into anything and everything. He is on the FBI's watch list as he has previously hacked into websites he shouldn't have. John McClane who is now a bit of a deadbeat spends his time when he should be on duty spying on his ex-wife and daughter Lucy. When the call comes in to go and fetch Matt Farrell it should have been an easy task. When he eventually gets to Farrell all hell breaks loose and he ends up saving his life and speeding away. His only task is to get Farrell to the FBI. Along the way the pair of them realise just how much is at stake when Gabriel starts shutting down traffic lights and creating disasters at the flick of a button. They make an unlikely partnership, but when Gabriel kidnaps McLane's daughter Lucy it gets personal and John will do anything to get her back. The fourth instalment in the Die Hard series, in some ways the best. We get to see McClane as the has-been. He is a techno-phobe who does things his way and when he gets partnered up with Farrell it makes for some very funny viewing. There is a lot more sarcastic undertone humour in this one that in previous Die Hard's. I also loved Farrell as the sidekick; they made an unlikely but fantastic on screen pair. The action was as usual high-octane and seriously overloaded. I only had one complaint in that there is a scene with a fighter jet that just pushed over to the side of being too far fetched (even for my hero McClane). The writers have pleased fans with Bruce Willis' famous lines and some new one liners that had me belly laughing. I also thought the casting was perfect for McClane's daughter Lucy (played by Mary Winstead). She was absolutely perfect for the part and fitted in a treat. Don't get me wrong, although I really liked this I still favour the Original Die Hard and don't think you can beat a baddie like Hans Gruber. All in all I am waiting with baited breath to see if they can persuade Bruce to make the 5th one.

One of my all time best films
Die Hard 4.0 for me is his best film, his role as the cop that never gives up is just great in this particular movie, out of the many die hard films, for me this is the best one. I'm waiting for the price to come down on Prime Video so I can get it there too.

Bruce at his best.
It’s Christmas so it has to be Die Hard.Let’s face it, its just not Christmas until you’ve watched Alan Rickman fall from the Yokahama Tower.

He never fails to please. Action and excitement all the way. I am glad to own it as there will be no more to follow; The good always die to early in life.

Plenty of action
I got this on DVD rather than watching it at the cinema and have to agree with some other reviews that watching some of the actions shots in this movie would have been fantastic on the big screen.I was a bit disappointed that the script was comprised in favour of the big action shots, but this seems to be par for the course with a lot of action movies these days. It has been a long time since I saw Die Hard 3 and I am sure that it was a far better written movie than No.4, but perhaps that is just my memory playing tricks! The storyline as per the usual Die Hard stories, in this case a bunch of terrorists are taking over the states and disabling all the transportation and utilities services etc, creating havoc and panic in the country. It is down to John McClane to single handidly save the country, which he does in his usual tough guy manner. It is certainly fast paced, but the way McClane manages to do away with some of the terrorists are questionable (a terrorist hanging out of a helicopter gets taken out by a water hydrant? Come on!) a lot of the actors seem to survive practically uninjured after falling from great heights or being slammed heavily against walls etc, reminiscent of the A Team TV movies unfortunately, I think that you have to suspend your belief just that little bit too much to enjoy it to it's fullest.Saying that I would still recommend this as a buy, but for me personally I would have preferred some of the more ridiculous action stunts being taken out in favour of spending a bit more time on a better written script.
