Schmidt Sports Elastikon Chest Expander I (yellow cords)
Schmidt Sports Elastikon Chest Expander I (yellow cords) - ordered 11 Sep and arrived 16 Sep but collected 17 Sep (due to RM leaving card!). Good packaging, as described and worth the purchase. This product comes with 5 yellow strong elastic cords. The box shows the yellow as 5 x 10 kg. I had to remove all except one which was for me to start gradually due to unused arms, shoulder muscles. Held well, and with the holds pushed in each cord (resistance 10 kg) can be removed to suit your excercise. The chart shows the trainer using them with various excercises but is in German (which I knew before ordering after reading the other reviews) - but they are easy to follow. Well made and strong. The only nag is it seems a little long for me and measured by ruler as 68 cm from the handles (inside yellow part only). This is not a problem, as the stretch is not far to go when I use it to fully stretched arms length. The review given in version 1V sold this one to me and I am well pleased and recommend it as a result. The box shows other models as follows: starting with the model I yellow as 5x10 kg (so each cord strength is 10 kg, and with 2x cords = 20 kg and so on, max resistance being yellow=50 kg (for me this total was impossible to stretch at arms length!). The model II blue cords are 5 x 15 kg (total resistance blue=75 kg), then model III red cords 5 x 20 kg (total resistance red=100 kg), and finally model IV green as cords 5 x 25 kg (total resistance green=125 kg).

More comprehensive than you might imagine!
This is a really excellent piece of kit. The cable quality is good, and the anchoring system is reliable (so far). The handles are easily strong enough to cope with the draw strength and provide for a reassuringly secure grip, despite their sveldt dimensions. The Elastikon range numbers from I to IV, and I consider each expander as an integral component of a more comprehensive system of exercise equipment. In following a proper system of progressive resistance training, I need to be able to: 1. Load a pair of handles to a level resistance that I can successfully pull for the lower value of my target repetition range. 2. Build toward the upper value of my target repetition range over a few sessions, separated by adequate rest periods; I aim to exercise on alternate days, or every third day (if not adequately rested). 3. I add 5 fkg resistance and repeat the cycle. Each yellow cable is 10 kg of resistance, while red=15 kg, blue=20 kg and green=25 kg. In order to add just 5 kg of extra resistance per exercise during each cycle, I need access to the full range of expanders. All things considered, I am pleased with the results obtained from my investment of time and effort, hence a five star review!

The best product of its type I have yet to use - in short, the last word in chest expanders.
The chest expander is making something of a comeback as a useful, if somewhat arcane, edition to the vast array of exercise equipment available to today's home trainer, and in the Elastikon range we have undoubtedly its most versatile and mechanically efficient incarnation. In the days of Messrs Spenby et al, the expander lost many potential adherents because the incremental increase in resistance each time one added a spring was so great that it rendered some exercises virtually impossible to carry out, thus limiting its appeal to all but the most ardent and physically gifted practitioners. The Elastikon, with its range of graduated bands (from 10 to 25 kilo's worth of resistance each) obviates this problem and offers a truly strain free and progressive method of muscle conditioning for a very small financial outlay. I am 6'4'' with a big 'wingspan', but the Elastikon enables me to carry out all the classic expander actions across my full range of movement and together with the ability it gives me to increase resistance in manageable stages, I feel happy to endorse it unreservedly.

Grips are and issue and so is the length of the cord, Buy anyway because you can get around that.
I like the product, for the price and the durability of the item I thought maybe I had gone a little cheap but its a good piece of equipment that I can see myself using for a good while. However there is a few downsides, I'm 6''6 with a long reach and yet the cords are still too long they wont stretch if you do standard chest expander exercises so you have to get creative with how you're going to use the item and work said muscle groups. Lastly a minor issue the grips are a little thin and often don't allow a good tight hold on them but this can be fixed by wrapping a sock or cloth around till its fat enough to grab onto.

Great quality, flexible home workout item
Good quality and very easy to adjust the 'weight', as the clips are solid and reassuringly firm, yet most people strong enough to use this product will be able to unclip and re-clip them. The weight of the yellow band version is ideal for people looking to build their upper-body strength and should serve you well for quite some time, as the jump from one-hand to all-five is quite large (again, in the context of this being for 'beginners' and not for those of you able to bench press 150KG!). The instructions are in German, but the pictures are very obvious and most muscle groups are obvious to translate yourself into English. Otherwise, YouTube has many great 'chest expander workout' videos and Google Translate will help you make sense. The pictures do most of the talking.

Unusable (in my opinion)
Returned for refund. The individual resistance bands seemed impossible to remove, therefore it was impossible to vary resistance.

It's cheap and it works
Got it as a cheap alternative to weights and/or other equipment. If you want to start working out but at the same time feel like you can't be bothered (!) and that it just takes too much money and effort, start with chest expander. Its light and small so you can keep it anywhere and take it anywhere with you as well. There are multiple different exercises you can do (youtube/google) and most importantly IT WORKS and will make you feel and look better in few weeks. My daily routine takes 5-15 minutes so I can do it while watching TV. Also, buy rubber one (like this one), not metal/spring one as metal will pull your hair out (head/chest/back) and you won't use it again.
