Duck 1163221 Indoor Shrink Film Insulation Kit Insultation, Clear, 10 Windows

I have 11 single pane windows which as well as letting out heat , have a lot of condensation on them in the morning . I decided window insulation would probably be helpful .I was a bit dubious of which brand to try , however I settled on duck .The first window I tried was easy to do , the tape stuck well and was easy to place , however I hadn’t checked the length of my windows properly and the film was too short 😡 I didn’t want to bother doing it again so I added a bit to the bottom 🤣 probably not ideal but still does the job . For the remaining windows I put the film on sideways which was a bit more fiddly but still easy to do .The shrinkage with the hairdryer is perfect , although be careful as I got to close to one window and burnt a hole in the film.Even with my two mishaps (my fault not the fault of the product ) it is doing , what I hoped it would .The film has been up two weeks , has reduced condensation and increased the warmth in the room .Overall easy to place ( really easy if you’re windows are less than 5ft)Photo shows one window with the film on compared with the adjacent window without it .

Bit of an ordeal getting it up on my own on such a big window but once I sussed a method managed it in about half an hour. What worked for me was applying the tape across the top and fixing that, then down each side and finally the bottom. I cut the sheet to approximate size then just stuck it up and trimmed it leaving plenty of excess just in case. I didn’t bother with the hair dryer because it was fairly tight and I couldn’t care less about a few wrinkles or creases. This may have been wise because the air behind it expands and contracts with the temperature so maybe being too tight would cause ruptures.All in all if you can get it on the windows ok it’s works brilliantly and the tape provided is excellent, bit fiddly getting the backing off once stuck to the window though so try to leave a bit sticking out at the end to grab when you cut it to length.

I have just moved house and have discovered a terrible window that needs replacing. Every morning we wake up to full condensation and a puddle on the windowsill.Bought this to try and help, and it definitely has. Still get condensation, but no where near as much. Haven’t had it long enough to test in true cold weather (reviewed in November after 1/2 months), but for now it is helping.Only issue is the tape that was supplied was truly awful and didn’t stick anywhere, even after cleaning the surfaces thoroughly. Luckily we had our own double sided tape that has done the job.

I wasn’t 100% convinced that this would work, but after using it for a good few months, I have to say it’s been great. It was a bit of a faff to cut to size, but if you lay it down on the floor, fold it where you want to cut it, then use a sharp blade to cut it though the fold, it makes your life easier. Installation was easy, just double-side tape the edges of the window frame, start attaching it from the top, and hairdry it until all the he wrinkles are gone. The plastic is transparent enough that you’ll forget it’s there. Good product, highly recommended.

Can been a little fiddle at first, if you unfold ruffle cut to the size you need..Work wonders ✨️

A few points to add to what others have saidIt costs less on the USA Amazon web site , £12 rather than £17, so rip off UKContents of the box are underwhelming, a sheet of thin plastic and a roll of tape with a retail value of perhaps £5 ?My windows are 1m x 1m. So enough plastic sheet for six windows but only enough tape for 2 whole windows, I ran out of tape on the third window and had to buy extra tape.I might have gone to 4 stars if there was enough tape because the sheet does go up well, it looks a tiny bit misty but I was expecting that.

This is the first window that I have used this product on and the result is so clear plus the tape is easy to peel. I would recommend removing any tools that you might need before applying as my scissors are now a modern art installation behind plastic until Spring - oops! Seriously though, I had a long cardboard tube that I used to roll the film around and used this to help control and apply the film as I rolled it down the window, ensuring it was properly adhered. I would recommend using this technique. Four more windows to go and only one pair of scissors left! Will put up another review in a few weeks to see how effective it has been against cold and draughts.

When unfolding the sheet there only seemed to be half the amount. I did wonder if it was still double thickness, but despite trying all the tricks I knew I couldn't separate it, so assumed I had been sent the wrong size. Only on the second window did one bit start to separate on its own to confirm we were indeed using a double thickness. However we were still unable to separate the final piece! So we have half the windows done at double thickness, which is a bit annoying, and not as clear as I would like. But it looks like it will do the job. Just hope removing the tape doesn't take all the paint off in the spring!!

The product arrived earlier than expected and does the job. A bit fiddly so make sure you read instructions and view videos before you start.

I was reluctant to put plastic on my windows but just had an energy audit done and was horrified at the amount of leakage/draughts. I ordered this kit to give it a try. I have 150 year old windows with storm windows on the outside and fairly ornate (think curves and moldings) on the window casings and trim. I carefully applied the sticky tape. It's very thin and followed all the bumps and dips. Then, leaving the non-stick backing in place, measured the plastic to fit with about a 2 inch overlap on all sides. I removed the non-stick from the top tape only, put the plastic in place, hanging there, then gradually removed the side non-stick and working my way downwards. The plastic is very thin, and if there is a draught, and you remove ALL the non-stick before you start, the plastic will billow out and stick any which way it wants. Do it about 6 inches at a time to save your sanity. I didn't have a hair dryer so I used my paint stripping heat gun, it worked fine when used carefully. The plastic became tight as a drum and very clear. You cannot see it there. Pretty impressed, and what a difference. I can sit by the windows now without a wool blanket over my shoulders. This is going to save me a lot of money and make the house more comfortable. (april - after the winter - the plastic film is still in place on all windows, despite numerous nor easter gales. very impressed! I will be buying this again come fall)

Our house is 104 years old with drafty windows. I have been using Duck plastic for many years. I usually use the max thicker plastic but they didn't have my size so I bought this regular one. We have a lot of windows and very big and tall. So we usually have to buy the sliding door one. This plastic is very easy to put on and my favorite part is using the dryer to shrink the film lol Good value for the money. Shrinks nice and firm and very clear. It helps with the heating a great deal. Very easy to cut. I just leave it folded. Hold up the longest dimension and cut it wider than the window. Not until after the tape is on do I attach it to the top of the window and slowly unfold pulling tight across the window as I work my way to the bottom. The tape holds up well.
