Incredible for knots and matts
Amazing brush! My Shih Tzu has an abundance of long, thick, cotteny hair and developed knots all over his body (he got wet and I let him dry without combing him out first, which turned into knots and matts). I used this along with the Biosilk detangling rinse out conditioner and it took two hours but, this comb got EVERY knot out. I thought I was going to have to shave him down. This comb has finer teeth and works better than my standard comb on getting knots out. Works on dry and wet fur.

Not just for poodles!
Works great on Great Pyrenees too! She likes to get muddy so this has helped make her grooming a lot easier. Even used on my Maine Coon and got so much hair off. Didn’t realize how much I needed this absolutely recommend. The comb is heavy duty and not cheap material definitely worth it.

Really works.
I have a poodle with tight curly fur. This rake is a wonderful tool and I'm so happy that I bought it. It loosens up the curls so you can get out any mats. It's comfortable to hold and my puppy just lays on my lap and it doesn't seem to bother her at all. Worth every penny.

Pretty good once you learn to use it
UPDATE with my original review below. I've learned to use this dematter in a different way than I previously had been. Instead of just combing through and expecting the blades to cut, I realized they're serrated so you have to do a saw-like motion. It has helped him be a little more tolerant and presumably comfortable, but it's not completely pain free for him and he only tolerates it for a few minutes at most. It doesn't come with instructions for effective use which I think is the bigger problem. Maybe I'm still not using it correctly! But it's hard to say without instructions.~~~ (original review below) ~~~I've got a schnauzer with the typical schnauzer beard. It gets very matted under his chin and I often have to cut it off entirely. I was really excited to try this based on reviews, but we haven't had the same easy experience that the other reviewers have talked about. This is definitely an effective dematter but it will take several days (and many treats!) to get through all of the mats. It's uncomfortable for him but it does seem to be working at picking the mats apart as we take it slowly.

Fantastic for dogs with curly hair!
Our dog is a lagotto and has super curly hair. He loves swimming so he would get a lot of mats around his ears. This definitely got the mats out. I was amazed out how well it worked. We had no idea our groomer uses the same comb!

Amazing brush
This de-matter is AMAZING. I have a pomchi puppy whose fur is getting matted as he loses his straight baby fur and his new fur comes in a little curly. I had bought a slicker brush but it is super sharp and he avoids it at all costs. I came across this one day as a lightning deal and thought I'd give it a try based on the reviews. No lies told in the reviews, this brush works! At first my pup was kiddish but soon he relaxed and just allowed me to brush him. It cuts through the mats and combs out loose hair. He coat looks healthier and it's softer. Get one!

This comb works!
I have an Australian Mountain Doodle and this comb works!!!! His hair gets really matted, especially around his neck and behind his ears. I struggle getting the mats out afraid I am hurting him. This comb makes it much easier with less pulling and tugging.

Good for minor mats with regular grooming, not great for tough matting
For context I have a 50lb goldendoodle that is 75% poodle. Her hair is very curly like a poodles. I brush her out regularly because I like to keep her coat long. This requires using a slicker to line brush and metal comb to verify no tangles. If there are any tangles, a dematting tool like this is effective at breaking thru.My complaints with this tool, is that the teeth are not on very tight. They shift around and it results in a jagged alignment of the teeth rather than the nice smooth side. This is generally not great for a dematting tool, because they tend to be very sharp on the serrated side (for getting thru the mats). However, on this tool, the serrated side is a VERY dull blade. I am not sure such a dull blade will be that great for getting out tough mats. It's fine for me and my dog, because I brush her out regularly and she never has tough mats to deal with. Typically I only see small mats that form in the problematic areas and this comb is able to get those out effectively. So TLDR - this is a decent de matting comb for small mats and good if you're already regularly grooming the dog. Also, the dull blade makes risk of accidentally cutting your dog minimal to none. BUT, if you have a tightly matted dog due to neglect and expect this tool to be great for those, I think you'd be disappointed.
