Dual fuel, lightweight generator
This portable generator is easy to set up, lightweight, quiet. Perfect for camping in semi remote and remote areas.

Cool little generator!
Seems to be a nice generator that works as advertised. We got it as a smaller/quieter generator to our 9000kW 'whole home'. This one will be use to keep our internet going, a couple of home offices and a fridge or two. Also will work to power our small travel trailer. Its very quiet, seems to start easily and is very quiet. I like the light for the panel when trying to check things in the dark. I like the 30A connector for being able to hook our travel trailer and i use that connection for connecting to our home as well. I also like that it is light when compared to some other options with the same output. Of course the dual fuel was a big sell point for us so we could run it off our RV's propane tanks instead of having to carry gasoline around and/or having it go bad if not used. My only very small improvement suggestion: I wish there was some space or compartment on the generator to store the funnel and small tool kit.

Fuel Usage & Versatility & Update
I got this Westinghouse inverter for emergency power outages mainly. Sure, I'll have other uses for it, but for now, it's for emergencies as I live in a cold weather region, frozen tundra! I have a bigger generator but when you think emergencies, you have to think fuel. My bigger generator burns allot of gas and isn't portable. In a power outage situation I have to expect to not have access to more fuel. This Westinghouse iGen2550DFc will only use about one gallon for approx 12 hours runtime on economy mode, I haven't verified that yet. That's allot! Not only that, I have propane tanks for my grill and can run it off of those too! I haven't run it yet and I'll update this after I do. I purchased this model based only on duel fuel versatility, fuel economics, and it weighs less than 50lbs, I can move it around easily. Another selling point was the fact I can hook another one up in parallel if I want more power. The only negative comment I have is that I read in other comments a magnetic dipstick is worthwhile at first running. They weren't specific but I had a hard time finding one, had to order off Amazon. I plan to use it only during initial few hours as it doesn't have any readings on it. I'll update comments when I know more. My only reason for 4 stars and not 5 is I haven't run it yet. It deserves 4 stars just for the comments above. If it runs great, I'll change to 5 stars. Update: I did run it last year (2024) and it ran terrible, sputtered when I'd put a load on it, had to run it with the choke on. I did run it out of gas but never filled it completely up, hence don't know how long it runs on one gallon of gas. I ran it again a couple months (Aug 2025) ago and it ran great. The original issue had to be old gasoline. I had put untreated gasoline in that was sitting around for years. With the new gas this year, started right up and purred like a kitten. I still haven't had time to run a full gallon, but when/if I do, I'll update. I'm leaving rating as is until I verify run time as that was key selling point to me.

Westinghouse Inverter Generators --They Just Keep Getting Better and Better!
They Just Keep Getting Better and Better! I’ve owned quite a few generators, large and small, over the years. I bought my first Westinghouse inverter generator, a model WH2000iXLT, back in 2015. It has served me well over the last ten years, especially during a 5-day power outage in the aftermath of hurricane Irma in 2017. Running 24/7, it powered my big side-by-side refrigerator, bedroom air conditioner, a variety of lights, fans, phone chargers, and even a flatscreen TV. Let me say that in blazing-HOT and steam-bath HUMID South Florida where I live, having refrigeration and at least one air-conditioned room is a lifesaver during an extended power outage. That ten year old Westinghouse still runs today as well as it did when it was new. (I liked it so much that I purchased a second one as a backup, or for when I need additional power.) I purchased the iGen2550DFc because I no longer want to deal with the hassles of using gasoline. I wanted to be done with filling plastic jugs, pouring and wiping up liquid gasoline, having to drain the gas tank when finished using the generator, and smelling like a refinery when I was done. Propane can be stored indefinitely, burns clean with hardly any exhaust smell, and doesn’t require draining the carburetor for storage. The running time between re-fueling pit stops is much longer with propane, and can be extended further by using a 30 pound or larger tank, or even a dual-tank setup. Perhaps the best part is: As there’s no gasoline odor, the generator can be stored indoors, under climate controlled conditions, to extend its life. Besides being dual-fuel capable, the iGen2550DFc offers numerous improvements and refinements over the older model. My new generator is RV ready. It has a built-in carbon monoxide detector too. While the engine size is the same, the iGen2550DFc has a higher peak rating of 2550 Watts vs. 2200 Watts for the older generator, in addition to offering 1900 running Watts vs. 1800 Watts for the WH2000iXLT. The iGen2550DFc also offers easier service access with its large, tool-less access panels on both sides. The recoil starter’s handle has been re-positioned to make it easier to use. (Due to their highly efficient inverters and excellent design, only a very small displacement engine is required. Thus these generators are very easy to start.) Even the sound-deadening feet on the iGen2550DFc have been enhanced. In fact, everywhere I looked I saw subtle engineering improvements intended to make an already great product even better and more refined. The iGen2550DFc was obviously designed by engineers who actually test and use the product in the real world. (How many times have we bought a poorly designed product and thought “Whoever designed this should be condemned to actually use it!”) Impressively, the iGen255DFc is supplied with a 3-Stage propane regulator for the most precise and efficient gas delivery possible. Everything needed to set up and run the generator is provided, including the motor oil, funnel and needed tools. The instruction manual is clearly written, printed on full sized glossy paper, and easy to read, as is the quick start guide. (Be sure to read both thoroughly, paying particular attention to engine starting procedures!) As a bonus, 12 gauge parallel connecting wires are supplied. In the past they had to be purchased separately at additional cost. In the ten years since my initial purchase of a Westinghouse inverter generator, my experience with them has grown along with my confidence in the product line. In addition to my own purchases, I also set one up for an elderly neighbor who purchased it on my recommendation, and it kept her comfortable through hurricane Irma’s 5 day outage. Like mine, hers worked flawlessly, and she loved how incredibly quiet it was. Based upon these experiences, I can wholeheartedly recommend the iGen2550DFc. In terms of quality, value for money and performance, there’s no worthy competition in my view.

Left Me Stranded off the Grid With a Non Functional Product
his is one of the worst products I have ever purchased, and I am extremely disappointed that it is sold on Amazon with such a restrictive return policy. I specifically bought this for an RV trip where I planned to be off the grid. Due to high gas prices, I delayed my trip and was really looking forward to finally using this product. Unfortunately, when I needed it most, it completely failed to work. I spent over 6 hours attempting to start it using both propane and gas, following all instructions carefully. Despite this, the unit never started even once. The claims of an easy two pull start shown in videos are misleading and do not reflect reality. To make matters worse, I had to hike to the top of a hill just to get enough signal to contact customer support. After finally reaching them, I was told I would receive a callback within 48 hours, which does nothing to help when you are off the grid and relying on the product in real time. At this point, I am left with a non functional product, physical strain from repeated attempts to start it, and no immediate support when it mattered most. Given these circumstances, I believe this product is defective and not as advertised. I am requesting a full refund, as the product failed to perform its basic function and left me in a very difficult situation during my trip. Shame on you Amazon.

Quiet, well built Generator
Nice Generator! Only had this a short time but it started right up on propane which I plan to use most of the time. Very happy with the weight and it is very quiet especially on ECO mode. Seems well built and well thought out, can’t wait to try it out camping.

Easy to get going, but be sure to read ALL to documentation first
Bought this for RV boondocking. Unpacked and got it up in running in no time. However, anyone buying should be aware of a few snafus we ran into so they can avoid problems. 1- They provide a small bottle of 4 stroke engine oil, but it's not enough to reach the minimum level. We had to add about a 2 oz more of our own to get a reading on the dip stick. The dip stick reading itself is a little jinky - the fill port is horizontal so you're not really dipping into the depth of the reservoir. A fill neck is provided to assist with filling, but you can't tell when you've overfilled until you unscrew it. You then have oil dripping down the side of the unit. They tell you to not thread the dip stick in to read it, but you can orient the stick and impact the reading. 2- There's a quick start guide, the owners manual AND an addendum, all of which don't say the exact same thing. Be sure to read it all before firing up the first time. They've changed the start up procedures so follow the addendum. Luckily this didn't negatively impact us, but I'd hate for someone to struggle or worse. 3 - the pressure release value for the propane is unguarded. While this didn't cause problems for me, I know I'll be positioning the value and propane tank so this cannot get accidentally bumped or pressed open. Venting propane unknowingly don't sound like a good idea! 4 - the service panel on the side is held on by spring clips, along with a locking knob. I'm mildly concerned about the durability of the spring clips with repeated removal to check oil levels. Seems a more robust attachment strategy should have been used for something they tell you to check before each use. Even with these minor issues, this is still a great unit. It's light enough to be moved around and quiet enough that you can communicate with someone while standing near it. Granted, it's not whisper quiet, but I've heard louder generators before. Looking forward to many adventures off grid with it!

A great generator. It does everything I need it for.
I got it a couple days ago and followed the instructions for adding oil, gas, etc. It started right up with 2 pulls on the cord. I have been using it for power tools and haven't had any problems whatsoever.
