Citizen 295-56 Original Capacitor Battery for Eco-Drive

Worked perfectly in a 20yo Japanese Domestic Market Citizen Attesa - just unscrew the back, take out the old cell, slot in the new one with the brass attachment, lightly grease the gasket and screw the back on. The watch immediately fired up and has been running beautifully since.

The battery has given my solar powered watch a new lease of life. It was expensive, but far cheaper than getting a new watch, which had sentential value.

I needed a new battery for my citizen Ecodrive and this was fairly priced and was definitely a lot cheaper than going to Timpson's to get it fitted. Would highly recommend.

First one ddi not seem to charge but was replacd without issue. Not yet installed second one yet.

Bought to replaced life expired capacitor after 21 years in Citizen watch. Watch was £150 in 2003 and now costs £400 for newer model. Capacitor cost £20 and has restored my watch to working order. Over the moon.

I was quoted £170 by jewellers to get my watch going it cost me all together £45 .

My Citizen pen didnt work anymore and so got this to replace the battery. It was a little fiddly to fit but wasn’t hard. Unfortunately it didn’t work which suggests more than something else was wrong with the watch.

Having contacted Citizen UK only to be told that my watch was obsolete and couldn’t be fixed (fair enough as it 20 years old) I was resigned to putting it in a draw and forgetting about it… However, I decided to have a go at replacing the ‘capacitor battery’ myself as the back is a press fit and so relatively straightforward. Also being a genuine Panasonic part the battery fitted easily and now the watch is working a great! However, as I assume the part was new old stock (NOS) then this is probably something to consider because performance of the battery may have degraded hence 4 stars.

Installs easily, fits perfectly and as soon as it was in the slot my Citizen Eco-Drive started right up. This is simply a rechargeable battery (what Citizen calls a “capacitor battery”) whereas most quartz watches use ‘single use disposable’ batteries, like what you would use in a flashlight for example. These are rechargeable via the photovoltaic cells on the watch face, BUT like any rechargeable device, there is a limit to the number of times it can be recharged. If your Eco-Drive watch stops and won’t recharge because the capacitor battery has reached its recharge limit, this battery will get your watch going again. Make sure you give it a good 24 hour bright light recharge to charge it to fully recharge it and you should be good for several years. 5 Stars for this product.
