Review: Amazingly versatile & powerful scanner, broad & comprehensive set of functions & features, some a bit hidden under the "hood" - The capabilities of this scanner are even more versatile & extensive than I gathered from the desertcart ad. The customer service manager very courteously & attentively helped me learn about the functions and features of the unit. My greatest interest in the unit was to be able to track my MPGs between fuel fill-ups, both to monitor engine performance as well as fuel quality from brand to brand as well as between fuel grades (e.g. prem. vs. reg.), not to mention overall fuel consumption. Also, my 2004 Tacoma was not fitted with a factory installed tachometer, nor a resettable trip odometer, which the P10 was able to provide (though not quite as quick and handy as might be desirable, as in the mere single push of a button). PROs: I really like the styling of the P10, the color screen & its pretty decent resolution, as well as the various display options that are easily accessible once you learn to use the settings and selections button. (Practice makes perfect.) I do wish the screen were just another 1/4"-1/2" larger. Another thing I really like is the over-speed alarm, the tachometer alarm (which can be set to beep at a desirable shift RPM for manual transmission, rather than merely as an over-max alarm), over-temp alarm, etc. Another nice thing is the slender, flat connecting cable that fits thru' narrow spaces when routing up to steering column or dash. CONs: User guide is a little short on informing of the full use and capabilities of the unit (and the print is SMALL). A website link with screenshots and more extensive features and functions details & explanations would be helpful. Only other 'con' is that certain display items, particularly on the multi-display screen, are a bit hard to see for me, e.g., the red-colored readouts on the black background screen that don't stand out well enough for a quick glance that doesn't require taking eyes off the road quite so long. Maybe I need to explore the various color selections more. But here is where I wish the screen were just 10% larger. All in all, it's an amazingly powerful unit, and that doesn't even speak to its data stream or error code capabilities, which, THANK GOD, I have not needed to utilize. Review: Beware! - Even though it states it works with all protocols, it does not. I have a 2007 Toyota Noah, made only for the Asian market and when connecting, it just times out after a minute or two and switches off. Communication is happening as my ABS light flashes when this is being executed. I took a chance on this device but be aware it does not work with all OBD2 protocols.

Easy install
Works great. Very easy to install, just plug into OBDII port. Easy to adjust to match car speedometer. Very easy to read day or night. Much easier and faster to glance at than the old non digital speedometer in my 2004 Honda Element.

OK when it works.
Needs restarting all the time.

Works, but restarts often
I like this little device which I need to keep an eye on the cooling water temp of my car. Works fine in general but the device restarts often and when it does it beeps which can be a little bit annoying while driving.

Handy Scanner, but not a HUD
First off this is not a heads up display (HUD), which display an image on the windshield. I knew that buying it; I bought this primarily for the configurable audible alarms on my daughters' cars. I don't trust them to check the gauges periodically; hopefully the audible alarms will get their attention before the car overheats or dies due to a low battery. You can set limit alarms for coolant, voltage, RPMs, speed, etc... This device was connected with no issues on a 06 I4 Camry. I drive an 06 Chevy Impala for a work vehicle but the device did not work on it. It did power up and displayed the voltage, but nothing else worked. I plan to purchase another for an 07 Corolla. A big con for me is the power coord. It connects in the rear with a Mini-USB style connection and sticks out over an inch. I tried 90-degree adapter but it didn't work - the mini-USB cable for this device is wired differently; thus, mini-USB adapters and extensions will not work. An OBD extension coord should work however. I wished it had a side connection or an angle plug in the rear. I also had trouble locating a good spot to mount this. I tried using velcro tape to stick it hanging from the speedometer cluster as that is the best place to not block anything but the RPM gauge which no one pays attention to anyways. Because the top of the device is not straight, it doesn't hold in place and falls off. I ended putting on the steering wheel cover where it blocks the gear selection display; it's a little to the left of the centerline. The best ODB display, imo, is the UltraGauge. I got one for my 07 Tacoma. Has many more features, but they run $105. For my daughters' cars, who are not to car tech savvy, this should suffice. Update - 7/7/24. I transferred this device to a 1998 Toyota Sienna and only the voltage works well. The temp freezes at 120 degrees. The RPM stays at 700.

Selection button is located at back of unit
Hi. I used on Mazda 6 2007 model. Worked perfectly. Speed and RPM are very accurate. I really like that i can see engine coolant temperature, my dash temp gauge is not accurate. Would recommend product to anyone with OBD 2 connector.

Not compatible with all obd2 vehicles!
I bought this for my 05 ram 1500 4.7 and did not work. It would light up and say connecting for about a minute then shut off. Plugged it into my 14 camaro to test if the device was defective and it functioned fine. Too bad it didnโt work as advertised because it would have been a nice cheap alternative to replacing or repairing my gauge cluster.
