Ordered this set of files to use with an array of tools I own. The quality of the product is very good, they are sturdy, very well made, you can certainly see the attention to detail in the manufacturing process. I have already used it sharpening a new machete I recently purchased that arrived with a dull edge. Within minutes you could see how well this file made quick work of the dull edge of the machete. I have own and used other files of different brands and provenance but cannot compare with these Helko files. Outstanding product. Highly recommended.

Works great for soft metals they have a great I guess you could call it bite to me meaning aggressive shaving taking out nicks and smoothing out the edges really quick. But on harden steel not so much you’ll have to spend a lot more time on that metal. But for my axes I remove the handles sharpen the axe heads and then harden the axe heads in fire and oil to keep the edges sharper then replace the handles with a German style handle ( Helko week ) . Not everybody agrees but it’s worked for me and my grandpa taught me I’ve got 3 of his axes and 5 of my own and I’m 60 and they still work great

Excellent coarse and fine file set used in the field to keep my cutting tools sharp. Finish file tunes axe edges quickly. Coarse file can reshape blade edges or remove dings and burrs. Both file handles feel a little sharp in the hand, so I wear leather gloves when using. Files clean easily with a standard steel file card or small wire brush. Very happy with this set.
