This monitor works like a champ; focus assist nice; and two battery makes a must-have for on the go settings.

I purchased an Akaso V50 Elite and Brave 6 action cam. Both are capable of recording 4K video and have mini HDMI output connectors. The V50 elite can record up to 4K@60FPS and the Brave 6 up to 4K@24FPS. My main intent for these action cams are to create some Youtube videos. However, what I learned soon after purchasing the cams was that it was difficult making sure the video I was recording was in frame when the back of the screen of the cam was facing the other way and an external video monitor should help me solve that problem.What I was really unsure about when purchasing this monitor was would it be able to display the video when the action cams were in 4K record operation modes. I was pleased to learn that this monitor was capable. I also wasn't quite sure even if the action cams were in 4K mode, the resolution which it would be putting out from the HDMI output. What I discovered with the Akaso V50 elite is that when it was set to 4K@60FPS resolution and recording, it would output 720p@60Hz but when not recording it would output 4K (3840x2160@30Hz). This video monitor was able to switch seamlessly with the different outputs being fed from the Akaso action cams.The video display quality seems good to me but that wasn't as important to me for my uses. I just wanted to make sure I was able to monitor what the cam was seeing regardless of the resolution mode I was recording at from the action cam, and it definitely is able to do that.The pictures I included displays what the action cam is feeding it when the cam isn't recording and when it is recording.Another thing that is confusing is with the type of batteries that you can connect to this display. It says it supports 'Sony NP-F550" which is true but I would recommend to not purchase that series of batteries but instead purchase Sony NP-F750/NP-F770 series batteries instead. The reason is that NP-F550 batteries are 2600mAH and may last 1-2 hours max on a single charge. The NP-F750 batteries are 5200mAH and will last twice as long on a single charge while at the same time are about the same price as the NP-F550 size batteries. The NP-F750 batteries are about double the size as the NP-F550 batteries since they are double the life but I don't feel they're too big to attach to this monitor.The only problem I have had with this monitor is with the HDMI connection in a couple of instances. It comes with a bracket which will hold the HDMI cable more secure which I have not tried. I had some difficulties where I found myself jiggling the cable and the monitor was not displaying the video due to the micro to full size HDMI cable connected between the cam and the monitor. However, I am unsure at this time if that problem was due to the camera side connection, the monitor side connection or the cable itself. I will update my review once I've had more time to use this setup and am able to determine if the monitor HDMI connection is the problem or not. Also speaking to the HDMI cable it comes with a Mini to HDMI cable, where I wish it came with a Micro to HDMI cable instead.

My package arrived one day earlier than expected. I also purchased the Ravpower batteries that were suggested, so I threw them on the charger immediately, and began unpacking everything else. All of the items were securely wrapped and packaged, and they were all there - I wasn't missing anything! In fact, there was an extra cable I didn't even know about, but am certainly glad it was in there! The instructions were very user-friendly, and I was able to assemble very easily. Once I mounted it via Hot Shoe onto my Sony a7iii, plugged the HDMI in, and turned everything on, it worked seamlessly. The Instructions Manual walked me through and explained every option on the Menu screens of the Monitor, itself. It was very simple to navigate and play around with. **The only word of advice I would give, is that once you connect the plastic frame of the Sun Shade onto the Monitor, just keep it on there indefinitely. I went to take mine off, and it was resisting to the point where I felt like if I tried any harder to take it off, it would break; so I am just leaving it on for good. It's really just a user preference and judgment call. It's really no bother to me. I am very happy with this purchase, overall, and I look forward to using this out in the field! I will update my review after my next couple of upcoming gigs!

I am normally a big fan of Neewer products. I've tried their lenses, their sliders, and I have four of their lights plus a tripod from them. But this monitor was an absolute nightmare on my Sony camera.Four problems:- Only a small fraction of the monitor actually displayed video. It was heavily cropped, and displayed only a small box of live video in the center of the screen. What is the point of having a relatively large display like this if the only usable area isn't much larger than the back screen of the camera? There may have been a way to set it up for a larger picture, but I didn't have time to mess around (see below).- The ball mount that mounts into the hot-shoe is overly tall, flimsy, and insecure. Too many things to screw down, lock down, and tighten. And with a slight bump or touch, it all loosens up and things start to tilt or flip. A total waste of time. This monitor ought to bolt straight into a hot-shoe and face one of two directions (forwards or backwards). I'm sure that there are people who need the monitor to be able to adjust to strange angles, but let them buy or use an aftermarket mount. The mount that comes with this monitor ought to be solid as a rock, quick to set up, and not require you to futz around in the field for 10 minutes simply getting it bolted on the camera.- This was the biggest frustration: The monitor is designed to use annoying sub-menus accessible through front panel buttons much like on a t.v. (left, right, up, down, and menu). It's tedious and annoying. When I tried to use this monitor, I was subjected to extremely loud, screaming, ear-piercing feedback for ten minutes from an audio loop created by the camera's mic and the monitor's speaker as I tried in vain to turn off audio monitoring or playback. Would makes sense to maybe have a simply volume knob or wheel on the side of the monitor to lower or raise volume, right? Right!? No way, says Neewer. I scrolled though every sub-menu I could access while listening to all that racket and had no luck finding a way to either turn the volume down, mute it, or shut off audio monitoring. Now, there may have been some way to do it on my camera itself, or maybe in some sub-menu, but I simply didn't have time to screw around with it. I want my gear to WORK immediately and without problems. When you are out in the field, the last thing you want to do is scroll through sub-menus to do a basic task.Bottom Line: This monitor is useless without headphones because once the headphones are unplugged, you'll get non-stop, ear-piercing, screaming feedback from the camera's monitor being played through the Neewer's monitor speaker.This is going back to Neewer.
