Good value!
Nice size and good quality, can be easily rinsed and reused. Comes vacuum sealed in small package...I had to 'slice' into 2 large squares as it was too THICK to fit my filters, so I got TWO for the price of one but I'm not complaining ;)

Great sponge - ignore the negative reviews!
I put off buying this for around two weeks and waited for another well known company to have a sale on its store. I waited because the reviews here are awful and very negative of the product. In the end i became desperate for new sponge to create my new hamburg matten filters, took the plunge and I’m so glad I did.I’ll admit, the package that arrived shocked me at first. It was vacuumed into a small (rather dodgy) looking brick like package. However, after a quick read of the supplied instruction it does state to peel it open and place in water.I filled my kitchen sink and placed the sponge inside for just over 4 hours in Luke warm water. When I returned later, (as you can see from the photos) it was exactly as advertised. So I can only guess that those complaining did not follow the instructions correctly. This product really doesn’t deserve the witch hunt of negative reviews. I purchased another and the quality was exactly the same and all good once wet and left to soak and dry.So it gets 5 stars from me.

Needs soaking for at least 24 hours
I was a bit taken aback by the vacuum packed sponge but after soaking for 24 hours it fully expanded with no creases at all. I cut it to size to use in my external filters and so far so good. It's quite a dense sponge so works great to sit my air pumps on to absorb the noise and I use it for cleaning the glass.

Perfect for DIY Pond Filter
I used this foam in my DIY pond filter, which consisted of a 30 litre drum, filled with gravel with this foam on top. Water from the pond pump goes in at the bottom and comes out at the top, back into the pond. After a couple of days the pond had gone from a green, cloudy mess to crystal clear! Much cheaper than buying a ready-made pond filter. Happy goldfish now!

Not worth the money
Too expensive for what you get no better than any other types which are cheaper

Expands when soaked
I bought the finer grade and it's superb. Soon expanded when soaked..only half an hour.Just bought the open mesh and at first when I got it out and opened it up it looked like those in some of the poor review photos but once soaked it was just like the other. Needs highlighting more that it must be soaked. I suspect loads think they are getting a poor product. Wish I had seen the product sooner.

pre soak before unfolding
cost-effective replacement filter foam. The filter foam arived folded and vac sealed, and will need soaking in a large bucket or tub for a few hours before attempting to unfold. It did smell a little chemical when first opened but this disapeared after soaking. I only required a small amount to replace the sponge in one of my filters but it worked out cheaper to buy this large sheet and I have a enough spare to keep me going for some considerable time.
