Will become a favorite
I generally don't like my tea or coffee to be cold, unless it's meant to be that way. So I usually drink my hot tea or coffee quickly to avoid that tepid nonsense. The Ember Mug/Tumbler is a complete game changer. I can now drink slowly because my tea/coffee will still be hot hours later. What I like best: 1. I can choose the temp I prefer, all the way up to 145°F and it will maintain this for 1 1/2 hrs for the mug and 3 hrs for the tumbler (full charge). 2. It comes with the charger so I can keep it on the base and it will keep it on and warm for longer than the above. Have one at work and this is soo nice on the busy days when time goes fast and attention is on anything but drinking...grab your cup and your tea/coffee is still warm. Or you have to go to a meeting and your cup is fully charged and ready for that mostly useless, overlong meeting. 3. The heater turns on when the beverage is poured in and off when it senses nothing in the cup. 4. There is a phone app for settings, choose your favorite temps for different beverages. But an app isn't required, will automatically be 145°F (I think?) What I don't like: 1. The mug has only 90min for keeping your drink warm. The tumbler is twice as long. 2. The company says the app isn't needed, but occasionally the tumbler doesn't sense the drink and won't turn the heater on so I have to use the app even after pressing the button. This happens with the tumbler most often versus the mug. 3. Be careful the cup doesn't get turned on if you're transporting it in a bag or something. Like the button on the bottom got pushed or something? But it also senses movement to turn on and maybe shake my work too much? I take my office one home to wash well on the weekends and there's been several times the heater was on when I took it from my bag. Overall: Love it...just honestly love it. I work in a cold building and having a warm drink any time without having to use additional items is amazing. After using this for 6months, when using my regular coffee cups, I think, "uggghh, I don't wannnaaa!" Buy this. If you like warm/hot drinks regularly, buy this. It really is worth it.

keeps drinks at stable temp, easily portable, fits in cup holder. what more could I want?
I got an ember mug way back when they only did 10oz versions. I found that to be way too small...then I got the 14oz. Good, but I had some gripes. I couldn't take it with me on the go, and it couldn't fit in cup holders with the handle. When I saw the 16oz tumbler I immediately fell in love. The handle is a great touch, the lid locks in place well, and it fits the cup holder! this thing is awesome. The only complaint I have is that it is harder to clean than previous mugs. Two reasons for this: 1) it's deeper than a normal ember mug. That is pretty obvious from the photos but definitely something to consider especially if you have big hands like me. it's hard to get a sponge in there, and brushes just do not do the trick. 2) it's a metal material instead of the enamel that's used in other ember mugs. in other mugs you technically don't really have to wash them with soap. You can really just rinse them out unless stuff is dried, and in that case you could theoretically just run hot water over it until it's clean. I do use soap of course, but just a consideration that the non-stick surface of the OG ember mugs was EASY to clean. This metal is much harder. The coffee sticks to it like glue and so you HAVE to get something slightly abrasive into the bottom of the mug....which is harder for reason 1 I mentioned. Even with that, ember mugs are amazing. Are they expensive? YES. Are they a necessity? NO. Do I care? Also No. I love these mugs. I can't chug coffee like others and want to sip it over an hour, but if the coffee cools down I find it totally revolting. Dialing in your coffee to a goldilocks temperature and being able to enjoy it for HOURS if you choose is a decadent luxury.

Lid Leaks, loses heat quickly when charge runs out
I have 3 major complaints that lead me to believe this product is just gimmicky and not ready to be released on the market in its current form My first and biggest complaint: The lids The cup comes with 2 lids, one that has a handle and one that slides open for when you want to drink. The one that has a handle has threads for you to screw and unscrew, but the one for drinking does not, it's just suction. The suction doesn't prevent liquid from coming out of the cup if tilted over, and if you try to pick the cup up by this lid, it will come open. There should be threads on both lids, and they should both be spillproof, but they're not. My second design complaint is that the charger is not waterproof. Why would you design a charger meant to charge a product that holds liquids that will break if any liquid gets on it? This sounds like a way to get people to spend extra money if a drop of coffee or tea slides down the cup and hits the contacts. They sell car charger versions, and that would be even riskier seeing as the lid isn't spillproof as I mentioned above Third and final complaint is that the cup doesn't hold heat as well as other normal insulated cups once the charge runs out. If you're looking to buy this intending to take this cup to work assuming that once the 3 hour charge runs out, you'll still have decently hot coffee? This is not the product for you Other than the bad points, it does have some good points. The 3 hour charge that was advertised is true, even at max temp, from what I have seen. The packaging is very nice, so it would make a nice gift if not for the above points. The app and instructions are easy to use, setup, and understand. If they would sell this product with actual leak proof lids, a waterproof charger, and insulate the cup as well as other insulated cups, it would be a great product. I look forward to seeing how this technology continues to develop in the future, but for now - this ain't it

Convenient to use
I love this mug. I have the Ember 2 and loved it, but wanted something that held more liquid. The drawback is that it takes longer to warm up, if you want to increase the heat level.

The Goldilocks of Cofee and tea
You will never drink coffee or tea the same way again after trying an ember mug or tumbler. It gets the temperature just right for you, not too hot and not too cold. It has been a game changer. I use this everyday as a replacement for my old ember mug which eventually wore out. The best part is I can now travel with it. Both the mug and tumbler are great and I have even gotten multiple other family members using them everyday too.

Best coffee mug
So I love this my coffee never gets cold and I can drink on it all day. I need another one for my tea! The battery life is ok, easy to function from iPhone app! Only thing is I wouldn’t use for Tea since I use for coffee because my tea tastes funny so I prefer separate mugs. Otherwise I am satisfied I have also sipped broth. I have warmed up cold coffee was very surprised it did that. Also I have left on charger and was able to drink the coffee that was left in mug. I think everyone needs at least 2 of these. I love this one because of 2 tops that came with it. Looking to get the mug 2 next.

Nightmare
These mugs have some design flaws. This specific purchase was a Christmas gift but my husband and I both also bought one in store. I sold mine, and his is sitting in a box in our basement waiting to be posted. I love the idea, I love the concept, but I hated the product. The only reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of 1 is bc this one we gifted was appreciated and made a nice gift. However we noticed immediately dad wasn’t keeping his on charge, he thought he could walk around with it all day without charging it and unfortunately they only last about an hour off the charger. It completely defeated the purpose for my husband and I. I accidentally left mine off the charger one morning to feed my outdoor animals and when I got back in my coffee was stone cold and the cup was dead and wouldn’t turn back on until it charged for a while! It got colder in the ember mug than it would’ve in a normal mug. It was stone cold coffee when I went to drink it. I don’t think I was even outside for an hour but I guess it’s possible. Unfortunately it’s a useless product. You’re either chained to its charging plate or you’ve got a dying cup that turns coffee stone cold. I’ll stick with my normal mugs. It was also annoying having to clean it every single time and then dry it let it air dry to make sure the charging area didn’t have any residual water and then put it on the charger. Too many steps. Too much headache to get a cup of coffee. It’s an inconvenience.

Finally! Hot coffee all morning!
I’ve had the Ember mug on my wish list for several months now and I finally splurged and got it. I couldn’t be any more impressed with my Ember. It has become a part of my daily routine. I love how you can customize the temperature and also program temperatures in the Ember app based on the beverage you are drinking. The size of the mug fits in my car easily or in the side of my backpack so it is super easy to bring anywhere. As a bonus, it can also function as something to keep your soup warm. I’m glad I finally caved and bought it.

Scratches easily
Washed it right out of the box with a sponge and it looks like this after the first wash. Scratches too easily.
