Very expensive but high quality
This worked great for a space costume I made. I had to cut the hole wider to fit my head through, but that was fine. The material is strong but it has enough flex to it that it doesn't feel brittle. I don't know if it would survive being fully dropped, but it handled being dremeled, sanded, drilled, and screwed into without cracking or warping, which is nice. The price is really high but it did what I needed it to do.

Made a great helmet!
I was exactly as I expected and it made a great costume accessory. It will fog up if you use it in the cold so be sure to drill some air holes if you use it for a helmet. We taped it up before cutting and it did fine although you do need to be delicate as it is a little bendy afterward. We lined the hole with pipe insulator for comfort. My kid looked great. It was expensive for what we used it for, and they wouldn't ship to Alaska so grandma had to bring it up on the plane, but I couldn't find anything else that would do the job as well. You could potentially save a some money by using the 12 inch especially for a child. I would encourage the company to start shipping to AK, we need globes too!!!!!

Great globe for all your cosplay needs
I ordered a size too small for my project but I honestly contemplated keeping this globe and getting the size I needed because of the quality of the globe.

Madame Leota
Worked perfectly as the “crystal ball” for the Madame Leota prop my daughter and I created!

Mau5head
PERFECT for a Mau5head. It will take some Dremel tooling to make things the right size, but it is strong, durable, and light weight. It comes with manufacturing marks on the exact top point, and also a circumference you can see. These are critical for guides when making a decent Mau5head.

Makes a mad Mau5 head
Please be careful cutting this open, a crack can easily propgate through several inches of the globe if you drop it, squeeze it too hard, or pull on it.I recommend after making your helmet (i'm assuming 90% of you are using this for a helmet instead of a lighting covering), that you place strips of duct tape around the inside so in case something does crack, the tape holds it in place. It's not like this thing cracks frequently, I just dropped it once and got a 4'' crack, so you might as well be safe.

Nice Acrylic Sphere for light duty applications
Made a Halloween costume Gumball Machine out of this. It was a huge hit. Well made sphere, smooth and optically uniform, easy to cut and machine. Wall thick enough that it held together without being too heavy.
