Magnasonic Professional Ultrasonic Jewelry Cleaner Machine for Cleaning Eyeglasses, Watches, Rings, Necklaces, Coins, Razors, Combs, Tools, Parts, Instruments (CD2800)

I own several pieces of jewelry, ranging from bracelets to rings, along with a few necklaces for variety. While I swap most pieces out depending upon the occasion, I wear three rings, two bracelets, and one necklace every day. The necklace is a sterling silver dragon holding an orb, a charm that is handmade and was given to me 23 years ago. And yes, during that time span I have worn this necklace nearly constantly, so you can likely imagine the buildup on it (note: I have cleaned it with jeweler’s cloths and gels, but it’s a pain in the posterior). Construction As others have mentioned in their reviews, the Magnasonic® Jewelry Cleaner (MJC for short) has a stainless steel tub that holds the cleaning liquid that is not removable. While some may consider this a flaw, the unit is relatively small and it is not that difficult to drain. To be blunt, if this aspect of the design is such a huge inconvenience, you need to stop being lazy and look at the fact that the MJC works well. This point aside, included with the unit are a plastic basket to hold your jewelry/silverware/nibs & etc., as well as a curved plastic platform that rests inside of the aforementioned basket. As demonstrated in the product images, this “hump” is meant to allow a watch or other piece of curves jewelry to rest properly within the cleaning liquid. This aspect of the design does give me one complaint: I wish that there was a handle or some type of tool that made it easier to remove the basket when you are finished with the cleaning cycle. The basket slides into the stainless steel basin and is a nearly-flush fit, and while the basket doesn’t become “stuck”, it would be nice if I didn’t have to finagle it out of the unit. Overall the MJC is a compact unit that is easy to store due to the cleaning basket and watch rest fitting inside of the cleaner when it is not in use. The Jewelry Cleaner also has two buttons on the rim of the lid (On and Off, respectively), and a blue light will turn on to let you know when the 3-minute cleaning cycle is finished. The unit’s clear lid is also illuminated while cleaning so that you can watch your watch (hehe) as the MJC works its magic. But, Does It Work? Yes! I admit that I was skeptical at first. After all, how could plain water clean my jewelry, glasses, and the various other items that Magnasonic® claims this unit will scrub for you? Especially considering that aside from some very tiny bubbles, there doesn’t seem to be much happening as you watch the cleaning cycle through the plastic viewing lid. While it doesn’t specify it as being necessary, I used distilled water in the cleaner along with four droplets of Dawn dish soap. I didn’t swish the water around, either, allowing the soap to dissolve into the liquid. The first item to go in was my glasses. After three minutes of buzzing I removed them, rinsed the residual soap off of the lenses, and dried them with a lint-free paper towel. The result? Gunk floating in the water and glasses so clean that you would swear that I just picked them up from the store today! Next up: this colorful bracelet along with my beloved dragon necklace. I dropped the basket into the same liquid that I used for my glasses, hit the “On” button, and three buzzerific minutes later I lifted the basket out of the solution and dried my jewelry. The result? Shiny gemstones, cleaned gold, and one very shiny silver dragon and orb. In addition to looking great, the gems on the bracelet also felt clean; dirt and skin oils were gone, along with fingerprints! The soap water in the cleaner showed the evidence of all that was removed during the mere three-minute cleaning cycle: oils, dirt, and even pet hair were floating in the solution. If anything, I never realized how gross jewelry can become with daily wear! In the End If you are looking for a jewelry cleaner that does not require you to dedicate time to rubbing pieces with a cloth or using a messy gel, the Magnasonic® Jewelry Cleaner is a must-have. Each cleaning cycle takes a mere 3 minutes, with the results of the cleaning process left floating in the water. Sure, you have to tip the entire unit over a sink to empty the liquid, but the convenient size of the MJC makes this a relatively easy task. Throw in the fact that you can store the accessories within the unit, and you have an economic sonic cleaner that can be used for a huge variety of items, including pen nibs, silverware, jewelry, waterproof watches, and more. So sit back and allow the buzz to play as your jewelry will come out clean, shiny, and as beautiful as the day that you bought it!

Now, I do not know how long this thing will last. I really do not. I owned it for a short time. This was a gift to my brother's wife who owns glasses. I figured that she could use something like it, since I have glasses and I hate cleaning it. Well, when you clean it with the wipes, it only spread the "gunk" into the crevice around the lens. Then you have the nose area getting full of oils which will dry up and look bad over time. Well, I didn't wear the glasses I had for years and then I tried wiping the nose area, the nose piece broke. So, I wore it anyways for certain things to see in perfect HD vision (lol). Well, my nose oils would just go on the metal. Anyways, long stupid story short, my glasses were extremely gross, regardless whether I clean them with anything or not. I bought this for her because it would take care of that issue AND since, she has jewelry, it can help aid with that too. I used my glasses in this along with my expensive ~$200 sunglasses made of real glass lens to test this thing with. I tried without any solution with my glasses. Well, oil doesn't get removed by vibration, but I see that it helped with certain things. I used a solution and wow. The first 3 mins removed pretty much everything. I put it in again for 3 mins because, it doesn't take long and,,,, why not? Anyways, after those two, my glasses appeared new and I removed the nose piece of the one that was still there, it looked new too. It was shocking. Brand new looking and no sign of being worn, except for the scratch I made many years ago. (I don't wear glasses) Then I used it on my sunglasss and it was perfect looking, no damage at all. The screws did not get loose either. I do not know how it'll do with jewelry, but she will tell me. I did this as a test to see if it was worth getting. If it didn't clean my glasses, I would probably have not given it to her since I hate giving junk as a gift. After using this, I kinda want to buy myself one too. But, I think I'll just borrow hers when I go there. Is it worth the money I spent on this? I believe so. I also believe that it'll clean the dirt from your rings with ease. And if you have it oily, you might want some solution on it. I actually bought this product, I didn't get it for free for an "honest review"

So I was all excited to get this (my jewelry gets filthy with soap scum and lotion), and I was afraid to try it on my wedding ring set at first. To test it, I first put in some of my old rings and necklaces, all sterling silver. I ran it 3-4 times as noted in the (terribly translated) instructions, and wasn't super impressed with the results. I guess I just assumed the dirt would fall off. Then I realized i could rub it and clean it up some. It's not dirt, it was tarnish! So I ran it again, then wiped down with a jewelry cloth and got some ok results. It was cleaner, but not the sparkle I anticipated. Since no damage (or much of anything for that matter) seemed to be done to my other jewelry, i dropped in my wedding set. Three minutes later, the machine cut off and I opened the lid. I could see the sparkle before I even took it out of the water!!!!! And no scrubbing required! The dirt DID fall off! The water was grayish and gross. I ran it once more for good measure, took out my rings and dried them. They look just like I got them from the store! So clean and shiny! The diamonds look amazing!!!! What do I get from this? Well, it works on gold/white cold. It did help with the tarnish on the silver, but i had to rub and rub and they still dont look great. But the white gold? Stunning!!! Also, it's loud in my opinion. But, its better than taking my rings in to get cleaned all the time and much more cost effective. Can't wait to put my husband bands in tonight when he gets home.

I wasn't sure if this would be a cheap, lame wannabe product trying to piggyback on the hype of $$$$ ultrasonic cleaners, but didn't really work itself. When I got it, my first try was to clean the green oxidized sludge off my frameless glass nosepieces that were too hard to get to even with a tiny pick. My first run with the US cleaner wasn't great - I used only water, and the first run got about half of it off, but it pretty much stopped there even after running it 3 more times in a row (3 mins per cycle x 3), and I had plenty of green gunk still caked onto it. To be fair, that remaining stuff was really thick and gooey - literally like near-solid sticky grease (yuk). I then tried adding a few drops of Dawn dishwasher soap in there as some reviewers have done - still no difference. I was pretty disappointed. I felt let down, but in reading some online recommendations, I decided to give it another go with some diluted generic citrus degreaser that I had bought for general cleaning and my bike. Figured I'd just recycle the degreaser after use and pour it back in a bottle. Filled the chamber will the diluted degreaser (it's like Simple Green, just orange.) WOW - night and day difference. The green stuff immediately started coming off the nosepieces. It was so thick that it literaly took 3 more cycles of 3mins each to get it all out, but once it was done, every single spec of green had been knocked off the nosepieces, even from the crevices with the metal. It literally looks brand new. I can barely believe it. So this machine DOES actually work, and works very well, but be prepared to look into helpful solvents if water/dish soap doesn't work immediately. For stuff like nosepiece crud, a degreasing-type solvent like citrus cleaner or SimpleGreen will probably work as it did for me.

I was very skeptical about this jewelry cleaner, I did not believe it would clean my jewelry as well as other reviews claimed. I purchased it anyway thinking "something is better than nothing" and the price was affordable. Boy was I wrong! This machine did exactly what other reviews claimed! I bought this along with the Blitz jewelry cleaner and the blue cleaning/polishing cloth that Amazon recommends and together, they clean my jewelry better than I can imagine! It only takes three minutes and it is a very simple to use machine. We tried it with several jewelry ranging in "dirtiness". First up was my engagement ring that I've only had for a couple of months. I did not think it would make much of a difference since it didn't look that dirty to start off with, but i really did restore the shine! We also tried a filthy pandora bracelet that my sister had lost and later found burried in the depths of her closet. This bracelet had basically turned black with dirt and was sticky from all the chemicals we had previously tried using in attempts to clean it. After three cycles, her bracelet came out looking brand new! While the machine was going, you could literally see a "cloud" rising from the jewelry, which is all the dirt being released! If you do purchase this machine, I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend investing in the Blitz cleaner and the polishing cloth... I don't think our results would have been this amazing had we used plain water. But the machine, the cleaner, and the cloth will bring new life to your jewelry. BUY THIS! YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT AT ALL!

Unreliable and poorly built! I've had this ultrasonic cleaner for less than11 months, using it occasionally to clean pen parts. It did work reasonably well at first. But starting a couple of weeks ago it sounded different when turned on and showed no signs of generating ultrasonic waves. So I opened up the unit and the attached pictures tell the story. There are burn marks on the transducer that correspond to burn marks on the printed circuit card. What likely happened is that the cheap insulating material on the transducer did not prevent electrical arcing to the printed circuit card (the trasducer of an ultrasonic cleaner operates at a high voltage). In other words, they did not use adequate insulation to prevent this type of break-down. It's only a matter of time before this model fails. This shows very pooor manufacturing practices. If they spent a few cents more for better insulating material this unit (and probably many others) would still be operating. Now I'm shopping for a better quality ultrasonic cleaner, not made by Magnasonic. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- UPGRADED FROM 1 STAR TO 3 STARS - 4/17/17: I've upgraded from 1 star to 3 because of the excellent customer service from the distributor, Shoptronics. When my Magnasonic unit failed (as I previously described) i contacted Shoptronics, beacause the cleaner came with no warranty information nor any way to contact the manufacturer. Shoptronics sent me a replacement unit which works fine (for now). I hope I'm luckier with this one.

I am a fountain pen enthusiast. I regularly write with a number of different pens. I have a decent collection of ink bottles to choose from, and I regularly go through a bottle of 3oz ink once every three months. That's a LOT of ink. Recently, my Namiki Vanishing point clogged up to the point it was completely unusable -- no ink would flow. I had neglected regular cleaning, so when I took it apart I discovered gobs of dust, dirt, pocket lint, and paper fibres, all cemented together with dried ink. Soaking it in warm water for several days helped, but eventually the ink stopped dissolving into the water and it still wouldn't write. I almost sent it back to Namiki with a plea for help. Enter the Magnasonic Sonic Cleaner: this little guy is an absolute beast. I had often seen the pen community raving about sonicators, but I had never really believed how awesome they were. This one was only $30, so I decided to give it a try. After 90 minutes of constant use, this thing was STILL pulling old, dry ink out of my pen! The unit itself is fairly compact. It comes with two inserts: a plastic basket and another of plastic which you're supposed to lay your watch over, it seems. The latter seems pretty useless to me. Despite it's compactness, the unit has a significantly large internal volume. You can easily put a smartphone or large mouse in it. It doesn't need any maintenance. The actual sonicator is completely isolated from the water. There's a stainless steel basin which you fill with water, then deposit your part into. The unit then sends ultrasonic pulses against the steel wall, which transfer to the water, through the steel. As long as you don't store water in this thing (even stainless will still rust) you'll be hard pressed to damage it. Just don't run it without water in it. The instruction booklet is kinda hilarious. It was obviously poorly translated. All in all, a very good machine!

Short version: this cleans but it also took off the antireflective coating on parts of my expensive prescription eyeglasses. Also a hassle in certain ways. Long version: The unit arrived damaged with the tab that lifts top completely broken off. It looks like it was just held in there with a little light glue. I was able to stick a very skinny knife tip in the space between the unit and the lid to open it. I tried using it a few times by putting a nail file between the two services (the unit and the lead) so I could flip the lid open. This ended up being a hassle so I just tried it a few times without shutting the lid. Oddly,it seems to have come without any on/off buttons as shown in the photo... There was nothing to press, just two little holes. I didn't see any in the box. So turning it on was also a hassle. Fortunately the eraser of a pencil fit in the space. But that had me wondering if I would want to put up the hassle and how long the unit would really last. After using it a few times in a row it didn't work. I unplugged it and then it restarted. Twice, the unit started when I was nowhere near it. Weird and it raises some concerns about stability. My hope was that this would clean my prescription eyeglasses and make them crystal-clear. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case. I tried water with Dawn dish detergent, part alcohol and water with a drop of dish detergent. Really great microfiber cleaning wipes from Amazon. No luck. They weren't any cleaner than if I cleaned them by hand. Additionally, part of the antireflective coating got vibrated off. You can see it a little bit in the photo I uploaded... Look in the center and around the edges. I'm really not happy about that because that's permanent and it will cost me a few hundred dollars to get replacement classes. I don't wear diamonds or much costume jewelry but do have a few piecesthat an aunt gave me so I washed those. On the upside, it did seem to clean them. On the downside, glue got loosened and one of the stones came loose. (Fortunately , I actually like how it looks better without the stone so that worked out okay.) Unfortunately, it seems to have removed the gold from a pair of earrings. I don't wear them much anymore but I saw that cleaning them might inspire me. I was using water with a dash of Dawn dish detergent so I'm not quite sure why the gold would vibrate off. I don't feel super angry about that but it could have been someone's favorite pair. So, I would use this unit with extreme caution. That said, it removed all lot of dirt off of things though. Look at that water. Disgusting. I'm going to return this unit because it arrived broken and had some problems... If I shut the lid to put it away I don't want to have to jimmy it open with a knifeand use a pencil to turn it on.As I'm writing this review it just turned itself on the third time.How does that even happen? I'm in a completely different room but I heard it and there it is turned on. My goal was to find something that would clean my glasses and be easier on themmicrofiber cloths. I thought it would help get the gunk around the edges, too. And maybe you did some of that but it didn't really clean the lenses much better. I only used it three times so it's pretty alarming that it would remove part of the antireflective coating. Maybe I just got a bad unit or one that had been dropped or something. I might try the digital version and see if that's any better. But buyer beware. Especially with expensive progressive eyeglasses.
