Is there blue dye in this? What creates the blue line on the pills?  If there is blue dye, what number is it?

Accepted Answer

Yes, the coloring agent is made from Indigotine, which is an organic salt derived from Indigo. The amount used to create the band is negligible (micro/nano grams). Is this good for sibo?

Yes, significantly! Low levels of Butyrate are one of the main contributing factors to developing SIBO in the first place. Butyrate aids by lowering inflammation in the small and large intestine and balancing your good bacteria. The anti-microbial property of Butyrate helps reduce pathogenic bacteria in both the small and large intestine as well. It also increases pancreatic enzymes and balances the intestinal pH, which will directly help with SIBO. This particular form of Tri Butyrate is gastro resistant and is actually deposited directly into the small and large intestine. As a Functional Medicine Practitioner I have all of my patients with SIBO, or any digestive issue for that matter, on this particular form of Butyrate. On average it seems to take about 1-3 months to really change the gut environment for SIBO, with proper diet and lifestyle changes as well.

What is the one to one ratio of tributyrin to butyate? i’m assuming it’s less. but if i need say 1000mg of butyrate how much tributiryn would i need?

There isn't an exact ratio per se as all forms of butyrate supplementation are still considered to be butyrate. In this case it may be helpful to understand the chemical makeup of tributyrin. Chemically all butyrates in supplemental form will have something else attached to them, such as sodium, calcium, magnesium, or an ester in order for it to be absorbed. Tributyrin is an ester, composed of three butyric acid molecules and glycerol. It is considered a pro-drug to deliver biologically active butyrate. Butyrate in the form of Tributyrin is considered the most bioavailable and absorbable form of butyrate. Keep in mind that your body will also make your own butyrate through the fermentation of certain types of fiber that you consume. But in general if your physician is recommending 1000mg of butyrate then I would stick with 2 capsules a day of our supplement, which is the most common recommendation.  Dosage varies of course depending on your diet, lifestyle, and your gut microbiota.

How does this compare to Viscera 3?

Both products are tributyrin based butyric acid. Viscera 3 has a few additional minerals added to their product. But the main difference is  Healus Complete Biotic utilizes a patented delayed release capsule ensuring that the capsule does not break down in the stomach, and is instead fully absorbed in the intestines. Viscera 3 uses a gelatin capsule, not a delayed release capsule. Healus Complete Biotic provides 60 servings per bottle, and is vegan. Viscera 3 provides 15 servings per bottle, and due to the gelatin capsule is not vegan.
