Excellent dresser!
I am seriously impressed by this dresser. It's the most beautiful, sturdy and well put-together piece of furniture I've bought on Amazon so far. All the outward-facing pieces are actual real wood, not particle board or plywood, and they are stained, which means no chipping laminate! The dresser feels solid and sturdy. All the parts fit together well. There are a lot of pieces but the instructions are clear so it was easy to assemble. The drawers glide smoothly. The finish is rich and beautiful (I got espresso cherry), the surface and the curves are smooth and very pleasant to run your hands over. It's a gorgeous-looking piece! The hardware is the most impressive part of all, because usually these assemble-it-yourself pieces come with horrible hardware that strips or breaks easily. This dresser came with those heavy duty black screws that just do not strip! I wasn't paying attention and used the wrong screws in one area, but taking them out and putting them where they belong with the drill was no issue at all, and they did not strip or even budge at all. The back panel, which you usually nail in place on this kind of furniture, has to be screwed in place instead, so there's a gazillion screws to put in. But their holes are pre-drilled so that makes it easier. Another thing that impressed me is that the drawers have a horizontal bar that runs underneath each, so they don't bow if you fill them with heavy items. Of all the drawered furniture I've ordered over the years, none has had that. Smart. I'll update my review once I've had the dresser for some time, to report on how it's holding up after repetitive use in the kids' room. But for now, I'm very happy with this dresser and would definitely recommend it!

Great value for the price - and a response to some of the negative reviews.
I wanted to write this review in response to some of the negative reviews which have been written about this product (and which almost persuaded me not to order - but I'm glad that I did). Some issues brought up in reviews: This 6 drawer dresser is well built FOR THE PRICE. I was actually quite surprised at how nice it was when I put it together. It is important to remember that this is a low cost dresser which is shipped to your door. This is not a piece of heirloom furniture which you will pass down for generations. You will most likely be able to get a childhood's worth of years out of this dresser, and then it will be a throw away piece. However, if you are looking for something for the long haul, you'll need to go to a furniture store and pay $800+. This dresser holds my child's clothing without difficulty, and is sturdy enough to serve as a changing table as well. Customer service - I did have to contact customer service as one of the side pieces to a drawer was missing. Other people found that customer service was not helpful, however this was not my experience at all. I called Delta, and was helped by a representative who took my information and assured me that my piece would be at my doorstep "within 8 business days". They delivered on their promise, and it actually showed up in about 5 business days. I was extremely pleased with their customer service. I did not deduct a star for the fact that the drawer piece was missing as accidents happen, and they remedied the problem quickly and to my satisfaction. Ease of assembly - my husband and I (while pregnant) were able to easily set this dresser up without difficulty. I would recommend that you have a power drill, even though the directions say that you can use a hand screwdriver. The piece which goes on the back of the dresser has a large amount of screws that need to be screwed in and you'll really want a screwdriver to do this! We also didn't have any trouble understanding the directions, they were also well laid out. All in all, I would recommend this dresser to family and friends. Just keep in mind how much you are paying for this furniture - don't expect to pay for do it yourself home assembly furniture and expect an exquisite hand made Amish heirloom and you'll be happy with your purchase.

Turned out to be a great choice. The dresser came packaged extremely well
I'm expecting my first grandchild in May. Having looked around in local furniture stores and even Walmart for a decent dresser for the baby room, we finally decided on the Delta Children Universal after reading the reviews here. Turned out to be a great choice. The dresser came packaged extremely well. Each piece was individually wrapped, packed and clearly labeled, almost lovingly so -- as if someone at the factory takes pride in this simple concept. It was clear from the onset that the quality of the product is a significant step above what you normally get in typical furniture-in-a-box fare. The the pieces (real wood) are heavy and substantial feeling. We were relieved to see that the color (a nicely finished dark cherry) matches the espresso cherry crib perfectly. It took us about 10 minutes to unbox the pieces and organize them on the carpet. I've put together my share of boxed furniture over the years, and each time I swore it would be my last. I once spend an entire weekend assembling cheap bunk beds and barely came of the experience with my sanity and dignity intact. Assembling this dresser was time consuming (about 2 hours) but simple -- thanks to good instructions and a design that relies on just a handful of different bolts/screws. My daughter and I actually had fun teaming up and watching the furniture take shape. A huge engineering plus is the lack of "cam lock and nut" bolts, which if you've assembled furniture before you know how worthless those things can be. A tip: a cordless screwdriver makes the job so much easier. Once assembled, the dresser itself rivals many we saw at at the furniture stores. It's sturdy, looks far from cheap, and just feels like something that should last for many years. The dresser is bigger than we thought for being a children's dresser, which is good. It's the perfect height for a baby changing pad. Just one nitpick: there are bolts (8 total) that go into the legs of the dresser, essentially attaching the sides of the dresser to the frame. The bolt heads show. It would be nice if Delta would provide some plugs or something to hide these holes. As I look at the photos provided on Amazon, these bolts aren't evident -- so I'm not sure what's going on there. Still, it's hardly noticeable and not something that should sway someone's buying decision one way or the other. Overall, 5 stars. We are very pleased. The dresser it already stuffed with onesies and cloth diapers, ready for the big day.

Great quality, HORRIBLE smell
Iโll start with the negatives because there is only one for me but itโs a big one. The dresser has a HORRIBLE, chemical/paint smell once unboxed. The smell was so bad that at different points in the assembly process, my husband and I both stepped out of the room to rinse our eyes out because they burned! I am hoping the smell goes away before the baby arrives (we have two months) or weโll have to get another dresser. We have been leaving the window in the nursery open all day and only closing it at night to hopefully help the dresser and room air out. We arenโt sure what else to do about the smell. I also plan to give it a wash soon and hope that somehow helps. Itโs been two days so far since we assembled and the smell is a less pungent but definitely still there. I will try to remember to update this when/if the smell goes away. With all that said, I removed one star because of the smell. Assembly was easy and smooth. My husband put the dresser together alone in an hour and a half. I did the drawers (while he did the dresser) and they took me about 45 minutes. This dresser is truly beautiful. It is incredibly sturdy with a great amount of storage space. The quality of this dresser is very impressive. For the price, it seems like a steal. I am hoping the smell goes away soon because this dresser is truly beautiful and of great quality. We have the โAbby crib and changerโ also from delta and the color matches perfectly. Edit: The smell went away completely after a few weeks. Was very light after about 1 week. My sweet boy will be 4 years old soon and we still have this dresser. Itโs in perfect condition and we LOVE it ๐ Absolutely worth the purchase.

First Time Expectant Father - Chose Delta In The End - Very Pleased
My wife and I are expecting next spring, but as most parents do, they go ahead and get their furniture prior to the baby arriving. I'd like to think that my wife and I are like any loving set of parents. We would do anything for our child but our thought processes are also based on practicality. When we first visited USA Baby (a nationwide baby specialty store) and Babies R Us, we were surprised to find that various furniture they had in their showroom was as expensive if not more expensive than the full bedroom suite we have in our master bedroom (includes nightstands, beds, multiple dressers, mirror, etc). Some of the cheapest "suites" were around $1600+ and if our child is going to use it until she's at least a teenager with the growing pains of her abusing her own furniture over the years, I'm not willing to spend that much. My wife then went to Target, saw the Delta line (she was happy with the appearance & construction) and then we made our choices based on their website. The crib is Delta Bentley S Series 4-in-1 Crib (Amazon's picture is wrong, go to Delta's website to see the actual style) and the changing table is Delta Eclipse Changing Table . If you're wondering, yes we mixed & matched the furniture from different product lines Delta offers. All the furniture is white (finish number 100 by Delta's catalog). If you're going to go the same route as us (mix and match), make sure the finish number is the same across all the products you choose, otherwise you'll have mismatched finishes. On a side note, this dresser, despite the name, is actually known as the "Delta Canton/Eclipse" product line on their webpage. On Amazon, it's known as "Delta Universal 6". If you compare the pictures of Amazon's vs that of the Delta Enterprise website, they are identical. First and foremost, this thing is HEAVY. Amazon lists it at 130 lbs, but UPS weighed it in at 138 lbs. So be EXTREMELY careful if you don't have anyone to help you move it. I got it in my house alone, but because of it's weight (and the nursery being upstairs), I ended up unboxing the components and taking them upstairs armfuls at a time. Assembly time requires about an hour to an hour and a half if you're doing it alone. My wife actually likes to help with this kind of stuff and we both put it together in about 50 minutes. It's a good team building exercise if she does want to help! :) The finish of the white is a glossy, pure white (like bright white paper or even house baseboards "trim white"). It doesn't seem to scratch very easy and overall I was pleased with the finish all over each part. As for craftsmanship, I am very pleased with it. It's very sturdy and aesthetically pleasing. Honestly, I think it rivals that of the more expensive brands out there. Highly recommended.

Perfect for my nursery!
This Delta Children's Dresser was the PERFECT addition to my nursery to hold all of my baby clothes following my baby shower. It was super easy to put together, the drawers are very large and spacious, holding all of the clothing I need it to, and the drawers are incredibly smooth and easy to take in and out. Now that my baby is 9 months old, I've had this dresser for his entire life, and I still love it today as much as I did when I put it together a year ago. He's outgrown most of the clothes he received at my shower, but it now houses all of his new clothing. One of my favorite things about this dresser is that the drawers pop out very easily, which allows me to take them out and better organize his clothing pieces according to size. On one side I have his onesies, and on the opposite side I have his shorts and pants. It makes it very easy to find what I need in the mornings! I also really love the quality of the dresser. Its very heavy duty, but also not so heavy that I cant move it when necessary. Its well made, comes with the option to fasten it to the wall if desired, and all around just a great buy!

Great value, good quality, assembly a bit confusing
This is a great value for the money. Packaging protects well but the confusion starts before you open the box - box says to cut tape to open but doesn't tell you which way up to open. I was concerned at first because the top seemed warped...it did straighten out nicely when I added the front & back rails and seems to be staying straight. The instructions are OK, there are a few places where the orientation of the drawings changes but it isn't noted and can't tell in the drawings. The drawer assembly diagrams are also confusing so I ended up re-assembling two of them. Drawer knobs are glossy painted wood and match well. Once assembled the piece is very nice. Has a glossy consistent finish. 3 nicks in the paint but they're all on the back or bottom where they won't ever be seen so I didn't contact the company. Case feels substantial and has nice weight to it. Most of the screws in the case go into embedded threads so it's not a major problem to take apart and re-do it the right way. Once assembled the drawers feel OK, they're plywood sides/back and hardboard bottom screwed on all sides. Fit is OK, glides are basic but functional. Drawers are assembled differently right/left side from the same parts, which is smart but needed clearer instructions. Drawers are also a bit shallow for the depth of the case, they could be about 2 inches deeper. Warranty paperwork is a bit misleading, dresser includes a 90 day warranty and the red paper says you can BUY and extended warranty for an extra $50 in certain locations.....after registering. There is a bag of extra hardware included (with an extra knob), which is a nice touch.
