These pliers worked exactly as intended and made tightening CV boot clamps much easier than improvised tools. Solid build and a good tool to have if you work on axles.

So, I decided to go cheap and buy the common $13 pliers that can be found at any auto parts store. Long story short, I broke four pairs of those pliers and my CV boots still leaked grease. I finally surrendered and bought this tool, and let me say, this is the RIGHT tool for the job. Very simple and durable, plenty of power to cinch those CV clamps. Save yourself the headache and spend the extra $15 on this tool.

Why did you pick this product vs others?: Worked perfect and also the clamps, when fully tightened, has a slight gap (as the OEM tool also does) to prevent over pinching the band clamp as there is a gap minimum required on the pinched loop. Love this tool!

Good quality tool, I went with this particular style banding tool because of the limited space I had on my car to re band my CV boots. Worked great, I would recommend, simple to use.

Works good, way better result then plier type. Still tool is a bit fiddley. Works well, but jams and spacer plates are rectangular, so they have to be aligned correctly to fully seat the clamp. Value priced for occasional use, but daily use would be frustrating

Way better than the clamp pliers available in my local parts stores. Easy to use and provided good clamping force for clamping cv boot clamps (ear style).

This CV axle boot strap clamping tool is well designed and work flawlessly clamping strong CV boot straps like the original GM CV boot straps on 4WD trucks front CV axles, which require a high torque tool to get them to specs. However, the bolt that pushes the jaws together is made of low grade junk metal. I clamped four GM straps for a SIERRA 2500HD diesel pickup truck, and the tool clamping bolt is already stripped almost to the point of failure, even though I cleaned and greased it before use. I like the tool so much, that I am going to keep it and replace the bolt with a good grade 8 bolt, and hope the thread on the jaws hold. The description of this tool is also misleading/wrong. This tool is not made to remove the clamps, it only works for compressing them upon installation.

These pliers get the job done for cv boots, handle are thick and strong not like those at 10 bucks and below... buy it!

As advertised Did the job well. Definitely grease all friction points for easier use. A tool to last. Not the quickest acting but very firm and no grip strength required to crimp. Useable in vehicle and on the bench.
