Superb quality dock with high specifications that make full use of a TB4 or USB 4 laptop port
I've tested my fair share of docking stations like these and I have to say that this is one of the best ones that I've used. It is also one of the most expensive coming in at about £300. I have another laptop dock that I previously regularly used that cost around about £120 and featured many similar (but lower specced) ports. I've been using this Plugable dock for a good few months now and this is what I've come to understand about it compared to my cheaper one.First things first, this Plugable hub is superb quality. The reason you're paying so much more is for the stability and the performance. The host connection (i.e. the connection to your laptop) should be a USB4 (40 GBPS) or a Thunderbolt4 connection to get the most out of this, although it will work fine with a lower speed (20 GBPS or 10 GBPS) port. However, with a full USB4 port, you will probably notice that you can get 10GBPS out of all three 10GBPS capable ports at the same time. This is quite different from my existing hub, which will do 10 GBPS out of one port at a time, but not multiple ports at the same time. In addition, the ability to drive 2x 4K 120Hz displays is well above the specifications of most other hubs that I've tried. 2.5 gig Ethernet is also a feature that is rarely seen on the cheaper models. A few Downtester speed tests showed me that this is true 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet.Everything is included that you would need. The power supply and included USB cable are both of very decent quality as you would expect - it would have been a shame if they'd spoilt the expensively made dock by including poor-quality cables! Happily, this is not the case.So do I recommend this to you? Yes, but only if you have a specific use case that requires a rock-solid, very stable, high-performance connection from your laptop's single Thunderbolt4 or USB4 port. If you have no need to drive high refresh rate displays, if you don't need the full 40 GBPS port throughput to the 3x 10 GBPS and 1x 5 GBPS USB ports or if you don't need 2.5 GBPS Ethernet then maybe this isn't for you. However, if you want something that is outstanding quality and that performs excellently (at a fairly premium price, it has to be said), this does the job superbly.

Nearly there
Mostly, this dock does exactly what's needed. I have a single 4K 60Hz monitor and several peripherals attached to a Dell laptop, and my old hub wasn't up to the job.The unit is very well built but has one major intermittent flaw - the unit gets quite warm during use (it's on a pull-out shelf under a desk); when this happens, my webcam (Logitech Pro C920) stops working, which can easily be in the middle of a video call. If I have a phone plugged into the front USB-A port, I can also see this dropping in & out of charging.

Rock solid. Pure quality.
This is an outstanding docking station. It's built like a tank, from obviously the best quality components out there and can take care of pretty much anything that you throw at it! Ok, so at first the requirement for a power-supply appears to be a bit of a negative, but for me it's actually a positive. The thing is, this docking station is likely to be more than powerful enough to actually be the power supply for your laptop, as well as everything attached to it, meaning that your 'old' power supply can then be repurposed to be your travel power supply. So, my original power supply now lives in my laptop bag, ready to go when I really need it - when on-the-go. When I'm at my desk though, this docking station powers everything when there. For me, it's a permanent addition to my desktop, not to be confused with 'other' less-powerful ones that are more designed to travel with you.Build of this docking station quality is amazing, with everything attached working at it's very best - so speed of data transfer is top-notch, as is network speed and the picture quality is also stunning. It might be seen as a fairly big investment, but when you realise what it can do, it's easy to see why and its very easy to come to rely on too.A really impressive bit of kit - maybe aimed more towards the professional market - but that's by no means a bad thing.Everyone who has seen it wants one and that's enough said in my books.

Sort of works with some quirks and limitations - Mac
Bought this as at the time it promised 4K120 via HDMI for M2 MacBook Pros plus the benefit of ethernet and USB ports. This dock WILL NOT give you 4K120 on a Mac and the description has since been changed on their own product page to reflect this. Separate to the display issue I get USB devices dropping out a couple of times a day, sometimes this is resolved by unplugging and re-plugging the device to the dock, other times it will not work at all and I need to connect the device directly to the Mac.
