Title: A Multi-Year Household Favorite! Engaging for Tiny Pups and High-Energy Hounds 🐾🧠
🐶🧩 I originally purchased the Outward Hound by Nina Ottosson Dog Brick (Level 2) two years ago as a Christmas gift for my puppies, and it remains one of the best enrichment investments I’ve made. If you’re looking for a way to keep your dogs mentally sharp, this is a must-have for your toy box. ✅ Why This Puzzle is a Keeper: • Universal Appeal Across Breeds: What impressed me most is how this toy bridges the gap between different sizes and temperaments. It was a perfect, engaging challenge for my toy breed puppy, yet it also completely occupied an energetic Beagle who had never tried a puzzle toy before. It’s rare to find one design that suits both so well. • Lasting Engagement: Even though my dogs have now progressed to more complex Level 3 and Level 4 "Expert" puzzles (like the MultiPuzzle), the Dog Brick remains a firm favourite. They still get excited every time I bring it out, proving that "intermediate" doesn't mean they'll outgrow the fun. • Smart "Nose Work" Design: The puzzle features three mechanics: flip-top lids, sliding red blocks, and removable white bones. I love that the white bone bricks have tiny scent holes - this allows the dogs to smell exactly where the treats are, keeping them motivated and focused on the task. • The Perfect 3-in-1 Challenge: The design features three distinct obstacles: flip-lid compartments, sliding tiles, and removable bone bricks. It keeps them guessing and using their nose and paws in different ways to find their rewards. • Proven Durability: After two years of frequent use, it’s still in great shape. It has provided hours of engagement, making it a high value-for-money investment. The weak point are the plastic bones, which could easily be mangled by an enthusiastic chewer so I recommend vigilance on the part of pet guardians. The plastic case is sturdy and, most importantly, easy to clean. I just hand wash it with warm, soapy water after a session, and it’s ready for the next day. • Safe Materials: As a cautious pet owner, I appreciate that it’s made from food-safe materials and is BPA, PVC, and phthalate-free. I don't love plastic toys, but no reasonable alternatives come to mind for this particular puzzle. 💡Helpful Tips for Pet Parents • Because this is an intermediate toy, some dogs might try to chew the removable white bones. I recommend supervising them during play and removing the toy once the treats are gone to ensure it stays in good condition. • If your dog is a "puzzle pro" and finds this too easy, try the "Frozen Puzzle" trick! Mix some wet food with water or bone broth, pour it into the compartments, and freeze it. This turns a 10-minute game into a much longer-lasting summer treat! ✅ Final Verdict: Two years later, this remains a staple in our home. Whether you have a tiny toy breed or a determined hound, this puzzle is a fantastic way to bond and provide necessary mental stimulation. Highly recommended for any dog's collection! 🐾❤️

Great for an intelligent glutton
Bought this to keep her distracted for more than 3o seconds for her breakfast and it’s been excellent. The quality and plastic is designed to pop out if she stands on it rather than snap, and altogether well designed. The pieces feel sturdy, and it keeps my dog genuinely engaged. What’s interesting is that my dog pretends it’s difficult when people are watching, but if you leave her alone with it she’ll calmly work through it and have it emptied in about 20 minutes. That tells me it’s doing its job properly and actually making her think. After about a month of use she’s clearly learned the patterns, so we’re planning to rotate it with a higher-level puzzle to keep things challenging. Would happily buy again. --edit-- It's been 3 months and she still uses it, doesn't take her long now but we wlare starting to rotate it with another kit. Unfortunately she did love the white bones a bit too much, at first it started with her picking them up and hiding them around the house or sleeping with her hoarde of plastic bones in her bed. If it stayed like that it would be fine, but yesterday she just ate one and there's not much of it left now. Thankfully you can buy replacements which is nice so I don't have to rebuy the entire kit.

Great for tiring out puppy
Great for dogs learning puzzles! Used to take my dog ages to sort this out. 6 months on and he's now starting to solve it a little too easily but the quality of it is great. No signs of deteoriating depiste him sometimes getting frustrated and trying to remove the cylinders (which he's never been able to do!) Going to look into buying the next level of difficulty but this was great for tiring him out during his puppy years.

My picky Pomeranian loves it!
Firstly, for those considering to buy the tornado, this feels like a premium product, it's sturdy, it's bigger than expected, it doesn't have that weird Chinese factory smell, it comes pre-assembled, so easy to start using and as you can see we're huge fans of their products! So build quality: No scratches yet, I'd say great durability! My dog is small, but destructive, he hasn't chewed on or broken one of these toys (yet anyway). But as far as this model goes, I think it would be good, even for big destructive dogs (always supervise though, and you know your dog best). The white bones might be enticing for a chewer. The bones are replaceable, but your dog is not. So bear that in mind. (Also regarding the bones, if you have the Brick puzzle, you automatically have 4 extra bones to use in this puzzle too. They're exactly the same, tried and tested 👍) My dog asked for his food to be put in this specific puzzle (uses buttons), which I thought was an accidental button press, but he loved it! He's the pickiest dog with so many food allergies, but he loved eating his food from this puzzle it seems! Cleaning: I'll use soap and water to wash the food out of this one, but usually for dry treats I just use an antibacterial wipe, seems to work brilliantly, no residue or stickiness. A note on boredom: Our dogs are smart, when they get the hang of a puzzle, they'll speed through it. So if you want to use it to keep them busy, maybe buy a few and alternate or use them together. TL;DR: worth every penny!

Good but a bit easy
Good but a bit easy for my 4 month old English setter! Takes him about a minute and a half maybe 2 to find them all but he will then spend the next 5 double checking he's got them all. He is a working breed and wired so maybe would be better for a more chilled breed

Nice challenging toy for a clever poodle
I've got a very clever miniature poodle (he's a Registered Assistance Dog for me) and I like to keep him stimulated. I had put this away for a future present but with having to shield, I thought I'd see how he gets on with it as he enjoys the spinning feeder but he's bored by it. He adores treats (due to severe allergies only the dog chocolate drops are ok for him - I got a big supply cheaply from Amazon too). So I thought I'd put a very small treat in each space, see what happens. The video is the FIRST time I gave it to him. He got the last treat out 10 seconds after I stopped filming. Took him 5 mins 15 seconds to get every treat out. Next day, I showed it to my friend, who helps to walk him while I'm shielding. She got dogs too. As I got it out,,my dog's face lit up and I knew then he loves it. Third time he used it, he picked up with his mouth, all the little white bricks and put them into a neat pile! I was amazed. Also 3rd time, he used much smaller neater movements to open it up and slide the little tubs. I've ordered more toys similar to these. Such good fun for both of us. I cut down on his foods bit cos of the treats involved! He will get this 2-3 times a week and I will make it harder by reducing the number of treats so some of the spaces will be empty, make it more challenging. This toy is suitable for dogs who like to think, not attack. Nit suitable for boisterous dogs who destroy things quickly and please play under supervision because some dogs may chew the bricks. But if you have a clever dog who likes to work things out, this is super! I'm going to try him on some of the Trixie Level 3 toys. By the way it stays fairly well in place on a rug or mat or carpet, doesn't move or slide around much.

Keep bored pups entertained
Great quality, my whippet loves it. These puzzles are especially useful when your dog is injured or unable to be walked for medical reasons. Or just as a fun interactive treat when they are restless and you’re working from home!

Maybe better for bigger dogs?
We have had a ton of fun just playing with the fluffy chipmunks, so 10/10 for entertainment here! As for the rest... My dog is really tiny, and when the chipmunks are inserted in the holes as they're supposed to be, they are really difficult to get out, he can't manage it so he loses interest quickly. So maybe this would be better for slightly bigger dogs. I'm gonna try putting the chipmunks in tail first, see if this makes it a bit easier for him. Feels like it was a bit of an expensive purchase if we just end up playing with 6 fluffy chipmunks...! But we'll persevere with it. It's not a noisy toy and it seems pretty robust so far, so this is all good.

Well made. One of our pups favourites.
Really well made and durable. Our Aussie Shepherd 3 month old puppy loves it even though he worked it all out nearly immediately. We still set it up for him even though he races through it. Very impressed with the brand and we have since purchased more difficult puzzles from the same line.

Vassa underkanter!!
Kul grej! Men som med alla Nina Ottosson-pussel är kanterna vassa. Har man en hund som jobbar snabbt och kan bli lite ivrig kan de skära sig på underkanten av varje våning.
