Absolutely awesome for hard-to-split wood
I have a supply of mesquite that needs splitting. There may be a harder wood to split than mesquite, but I have yet to encounter it. I could pound on a wedge HUNDREDS of times, and I am a big guy who lifts weights, and make no progress. I considered getting motorized splitter, but I was attracted by the mechanical simplicity of this device, and the fact it generates 12 tons of force, as opposed to 5 or so for most electric splitters. To make a long story short, this thing is awesome - splits mesquite rounds brilliantly, making a truly dramatic CRACK as this stubborn wood succumbs to the relentless pressure. Design is smart too - one of the handles moves the piston about a half-inch per pull - useful for snugging up the cut, and for separating it after the big CRACK. The other handle moves the piston about 1/8 or so, providing irresistible pressure. This is not fast, but it is lots of fun, very satisfying to use.

NO HANDLES CAME WITH THE PRODUCT, RENDERS IT TOTALLY USELESS
Opened the manual wood splitter to try it out and NO HANDLES in the box to work the product. Now we are expected to jump through hoops to PROVE there are no handles! Geez

solid, strong, easy to use, but irritating plug
I've been using this splitter for a few months and it works really well. It can split logs much bigger than recommended and doesn't require great arm strength to use. Negatives - yes, the wheels are useless on dirt. But the bigger problem is, instead of using a threaded nut for the hydraulic fluid resevoir, they have a simple rubber plug, which for the life of me I cannot get off. If I really have to add fluid I'll have to cut it off and hope I can replace the plug. Maybe someone can tell me the secret to removing it. Even still positives outweigh negatives and I would buy it again.

It breaks after some use
Not all logs can go in. After some use (a week in my case) the springs that pulls the jack back, stop working. So if you week one make it work everyday for a week and check. I heard some people were more lucky. I put some wd40 and grease on the rail so the jack goes back smooth but not even with that goes back

Tough little machine
If you are not splitting a lot of wood, this is the perfect machine. It has power. It's not fast, but its not expensive either. Great deal.
