Does the machine keep the ice frozen in it until ready for use, or do you have to empty the ice and keep it in freezer?

It makes small batches at a time. When the machine prompts to empty it, i put it in the plastic I bag that came with it. And it goes into the freezer. So, I really don't know, it will hold the cubes but not sure how long. But, I would think so.
