These plates are used to detect the most common yeast and bacterial species that may contaminate your brew. Both quadrants consist of Lee's Multi-Differential Agar (LMDA), which detects bacteria and yeast contamination. •Quadrant 1 contains an antibiotic, Chloramphenicol, which prevents the growth of bacteria and selects for the growth of yeast. •Quadrant 2 contains an antifungal, Cycloheximide, which prevents the growth of yeast and selects for the growth of bacteria.
