Great for vertical-lift scooping. May need to adjust fill levels for your preferred portion size.

I store rices in bulk in containers in a pan drawer at the bottom of a kitchen unit, so I've been looking for a scoop I could both fill easily and also raise vertically, unlike ordinary scoops which tend to spill. This Scoop works perfectly for the vertical lift, and fills a gap in the market in that regard. So I didn't mind paying 6quid, otherwise that seems pricey for just a scoop. The Scoop is large. It fits large containers fine but would be a struggle in small ones. You need enough wiggle room (literally), to wiggle the Scoop down under the food first.New Soda says the fill line yields 100g of rice which my brief online research just now seems to agree with as being 1 adult's portion, but I've found it too large. Also, the fill line isn't easy to see as it's white on white, being integrally moulded. It'd be easier if the fill line was simply the top of the Scoop, though the portion size instructions would need amending. I'd say that a full Scoop of basmati rice, to the top of the actual Scoop, levelled off and ignoring the fill line, is generous for 2 adults as a side accompaniment; that's makes for quicker Scooping if you're measuring for 2 adults or more. Therefore, there's a learning curve. Once you know what works for you, the Scoops works fine. The concept's good. I'd like to see another, smaller version added to the range, to yield 1 adult's portion (to the top of the Scoop) and to fit a wider range of containers.

Good portion size

As a measuring device it is good, I found the portions about right. Because the line on the rice measure is self coloured I found it very hard to see, white cup, white line and white basmati rice! Maybe that is just my eyesight which isn't great these days, but I would have found it helpful for the line to be a different colour, or more raised or something easier to see.

Handy little gadget

I think the spaghetti measure is perfrct for one persons portion but not the rice, 3 'bowls' of rice are just right for the 2 of us. It's a thicker plastic but mine wobbles a lot so I need to hold it up right.

Saves waste

Once you get to know the levels needed, this is great for pasta and rice and spaghetti. We used to get a lot of waste by guessing and this has helped a lot.

Useful product

Very useful product for cooking the right amount of rice, especially if you are following a diet plan which calls for a specific amount of rice per serving. Useful to have the pasta measuring whole too at the top of the nadle.

Recommended.

The rice portion is quite large and the spaghetti is quite hard to put through the hole but it's a great product. It's made of quality plastic and it has a rubber base to stop it slipping.

cool size serving

cool size serving, might be handy for a lot of people, haven't tried the spaghetti measure hole but tbh i bet its spot on as usually we put spaghetti in for ourselves and end up with enough for the whole day.
