New Balance Men's MX623v2 Cross-Training Shoe

I ordered the older version of NB's shoe MX623 because they are high quality and very durable, something which is even more important when buying shoes for our very active teenage son. The design is simple, something which is becoming much harder to find these days. The shoe is very well made and very comfortable, with good padding and snug fit, and with a very effective sole.Unfortunately the newer versions of this show which NB is now selling are of inferior quality, more plastic and less leather, the fit isn't as good especially in the front, the sole is made of a different material which makes it more slippery, and these newer models are much less durable.

I wear a size 15 and I always order one size larger in tennis shoes because of the design. Tennis shoes are pointy at the ends and they hurt my toes. These shoes seem to run a little big. I ordered a size 16 and it looks like it could be a size 17 or an 18, the tag says it is 16. There is 3 quarters of an inch from the toe to the end of the shoe. If these shoes are too big for my feet I don't notice it, because they don't flop and they are not loose. I ran 1.5 miles in these shoes twice and my feet don't hurt at all. My toes did not rub against the ends of the shoes due to the extra space provided. I would rather have the shoes be a little big than too small for my feet. The point is if you are worried about these shoes looking big, then order what ever size you are. I believe these shoes are larger than what the size says but my feet do not hurt and I am happy.

First, disclosure: I have owned many pairs of New Balance shoes, particularly the 99x series running shoes and have a positive opinion of the company and its products, so that may impact my view of these shoes.One reason why I purchase New Balance athletic shoes is that NB has width sizing (I have very narrow feet - AA or even AAA in dress shoes).I found these 623s to be very comfortable right out of the box (no break-in period at all); perhaps the most comfortable first wearing fit of any shoe I have ever owned. Undoubtedly, the availability of a narrow width contributed to that comfort.I have these shoes for a little over a month. Thus far, the quality seems to be better than other 600 series shoes I have had from NB. (Like others, I have noted that the quality of the 600 series shoes is less than that of the 99x shoes I have owned.)The 623s are great for casual wear and should be adequate for tennis or cross-training - the sole has good non-skid characteristics, the heel provides a snug fit and the shoe has stabilization features.As noted by others, the shoes are short and you should order a half-size up (in my case, since I normally wear a 13, I ordered a 14 and it fits well).Recommended! (But, since feet are different, YMMV!)

Okay, usually I like these shoes but for some reason I have been having a problem with the fit lately. They are too big in the back and too small in the front where my toes are. I always have to buy foot supports for them to be comfortable. They toes felt squashed together and my baby toe started to hurt. I never had that happen before. Then I got the jogging New Balance shoes and what a difference, so much room for my toes, and cushion for my foot love them.

All right, this is coming from a guy whose 319 pounds, and climbs hills everyday to go to school, and I must say these shoes are amazing in regards to getting me from A to B in excellent comfort. I ordered these after wearing out my V1 623 shoes to the point where the toe part of the sole has started to separate, and I love the 623 for walking everyday, and for the fact that they actually fit (I have 4E width feet, and wear a size 15. Finding shoes that fit, much less be comfortable is rather difficult), so I decided to give the V2 a go. In this review, I opted for the navy blue shoes.Shoes arrived on time, and tried em on right away. First thing I noticed was that they seemed lighter than the old V1's, and the second thing I noticed is they seem more rigid in the heel. Third thing I've noticed in the 4 days I've worn them is unlike the V1, which required a week of wear for them to break in properly, the V2s had little break in time (a bit for the toe part to widen a bit). The shoes feel like thay have more padding, are better ventilated, and as a result, I can wear these all day without my dogs barking. Overall, a solid improvement over the V1 623's, and well worth the price. Thanks again, New Balance!

After having foot problems for several years these were suggested to me by my surgeon. I love these. I'm comfortable all day. I do normally wear inserts but there are several times I've forgotten to put them in and I haven't had any problems. They provide great support. This is my 3rd pair and as far as this type of shoe is concerned nothing else compares. I'm hard on shoes and each pair has lasted me a year. They fit really well and don't lose their fit as easily as some brands do. They've proven to be a consistent, affordable, high performance/quality product. You can't go wrong with these shoes!

Because I have enormous feet, I have to purchase ALL of my shoes from Amazon, as I obviously cannot find them in stores here on the Big Island of Hawaii. Over the course of the past several years, I have bought many, many pairs of New Balance walking, running, and training shoes, of different models and styles. Most of them have been fine, although a couple of pairs had to be returned to Amazon, due to poor fit or simple discomfort. The MX623, however, is perfect. It is not only a very comfortable, great-fitting shoe, it actually LOOKS GREAT! The brown color is quite suitable for wearing with either a pair of dressy shorts or Levi's, and, because I travel fairly frequently, the shoes not only make a great appearance, but they are comfortable for those long airplane rides. This model of NB shoe is highly recommended, and well deserving of 5 Stars.

Great all-purpose trainers. I don't do running but these provide plenty of support, aren't too heavy and don't get sweaty.
