Updated after several months use because today...
Update 5/23/2024 - as is our norm for this time of year, the water table rose enough that it began leaking into our basement. I'd placed one of the units near our troublesome west wall where it'd most likely to have issues. I was upstairs watching television when i heard it going off. I sprinted downstairs where i found water had just barely reached the unit. My older detectors would keep going off until the contact points were dry. These detectors stop sounding as soon as you pick them up as the design is different. A little thing but i prefer that aspect as opposed to the other type with metal prongs. I also was impressed by the tone and volume of these detectors. If i can hear it on the top floor while listening to a television then you won't miss the alarm wherever you are, assumingyou have a 'normal' sized home. These have the best design compared to the other units i tried out last year. All said for the money i couldn't be happier. , due to snow melting off the mountains that surround us, our sump pump runs nonstop from may through august every year. occasionally for a host of reasons the basement still gets water intrusion. when that happens I have to act quickly or a minor issue becomes a major job. that's why we rely on water 'detectors.' the ones we used the last two years were okay at first but then starting going off randomly and for no apparent reason. made worse as those were difficult to snap/pry open to stop them going off. I was very surprised and happy to find these detectors aren't a pain to open and shut. thankfully they made these with a screw on/off top! that one unique difference was much appreciated at my end. inside each was a nine volt battery. the only negative, and a minor one at that, was snapping the battery onto the connectors. it takes more force to do so than expected but that's it. on the bottom are two small protruding pin shaped bits of metal. water conducts electricity. so when you've got water on the floor, water allows current between those two and the alarm goes off. you can easily test it by touching both pins with your fingers. the alarm should then go off and you know with certainty you're good to go. FYI no worries in regards to testing like this. you cannot feel anything whatsoever when testing this way. I just find it to be a quick and effective is all. after the battery is in place and the two halves are screwed back together it's ready for use. place it wherever you want to be forewarned about water intrusion and that's it. I like these better than any we've used over the years simply because of the screw on design. granted it's early in the season but they've already gone off once. that's expected since i turn the sump off over winter and use these to know when it's time to power it up again. so, so far so good!

Works great
Bought these not expecting any issues but loved the idea of a leak being detected. I put one under my kitchen sink and the other near my hot water heater and washer. Less than a month after placing them I had a leak under the sink. The alarm notified me almost immediately. I could easily hear it on the second floor. No damage. Truly a blessing.

Water alarms battery operated.
These saved my basement from flooding a second time! No alarm first time. Alarm is not very loud 1 floor up (they are in my basement). It was faint beeping. Sump pump got clogged after first flood and these alarms both started beeping. Comes with 9volt battery kinda hard to connect. Really works great. I will be buying more. If I'd had these before would have saved my heating system and not shut off hot water heater. Arrived 2 in a box.

Good product
I paid $27.52 for a box of 6 detectors. The package arrived in good condition. The detectors were easy to set up, and installing the batteries was straightforward. I tested one on a wet surface, and the alarm was loud enough to be heard clearly, which gives me peace of mind for potential leaks. I’m not sure yet how long the batteries will last. Overall, it’s a good value for extra protection in areas prone to leaks.

Works great! Highly recommend
Sounds like a smoke detector… we have them under every sink. It warned us of a leak in the kitchen with a piercing sound… we just hadn’t remembered we had them under the sink. It took us a few minutes to find the source of the noise, but saved us from costly repair. Highly recommend!

Peace of mind
This thing is pretty awesome! If just a little water makes contact with one of the sensors it emits a loud sound. As someone who had to replace the bottom of a sink cabinet, this gives me a good peace of mind to try to prevent damage from happening again (along with a nice rubber mat)!

Make sure bottom with 3 metal spikes is pointing down, comes with battery THAT IS NOT CONNECTED
I have used equivalent products such as the Basement Watchdog for years and these products have saved me many times their cost in avoiding water damage over the years. This option was less than 50% of the cost of the Basement Watchdog and also comes with a battery. I like the design of this product a little better as it has 3 metal posts on the underside which come in contact with the floor so should work even better than the Basement Watchdog. The only difference is that this product has an intermittent siren rather than a continuous tone siren. Make sure that the bottom of the unit which has the 3 metal spikes is pointed down to the floor. This product comes with a battery in the battery compartment but the BATTERY IS NOT CONNECTED. You need to screw off the bottom of the device and connect the battery. Since the alarm uses a passive circuit the battery should last for many years.

Ok, but…
Love the size and shape, battery, and ease of use and have bought multiple over the years, but the only problem I have is that they are not even close to being loud enough, and more than once my customers didn’t hear it. Needs to be close to the volume of a smoke detector. I’m going to possibly stock another brand on my truck.

A shriek that may save thousands of dollars.
After hearing of a resident who ignored a thump in the night and woke up to ankle deep water because his kitchen sink fell and ripped off a water line with 15000$ damage to flooring , we decided to take that as a hint. Get alarmed. Subsequently our friend's BIL told us of these inexpensive floor moisture sensors. We bought a package of ten. Every water supply has one and we are resting a bit easier. Do they work? YES. I put one into the second bathroom sink cupboard, onto a stain on the cupboard floor. Shriek. 100 decibels. The stain was leaked something. I picked it up. Shriek. 100 decibels again as I had put it on the palm of my hand and the moisture there set off the alarm. Inexpensive, unobtrusive and very effective. No home should be without them.

Appear to work on testing.
These water leak detectors were reasonably priced, could be delivered swiftly, and came with a battery. We tested them in a small pool of water and they worked, however, how long the battery lasts, who knows. I would like to put these under the shower, by the toilet etc, but unfortunately, they're closed systems we can't access. Water damage can be catastrophic, as we have found to our cost, from a small leak from the washing machine connection. They're easy to use.
