I’ve been using these headphones for running and daily workouts, and they have worked very well. The open-ear design is comfortable and allows me to stay aware of my surroundings while listening to music. The sound quality is clear, and the fit feels secure even during exercise. The built-in MP3 player is a useful feature, and the battery life has been reliable for my needs. They are lightweight, easy to wear, and the waterproof design is a nice bonus for outdoor activities. I really need to change my review of this product to five stars after my case was taken by Mojawa's Customer Service. They took care of the problem immediately. After using a pair of Shokz OpenRun Pro for a little after a year, the headphones failed. There was no way to get them fixed or replaced by warranty, which by the way, was still active (24 months). Since I really enjoy listening to music during my daily cycling training sessions I decided to give a try to the Mojawa's Run Plus Conduction Headphones. It just took one ride to realize and notice the difference between the Shokz and the Mojawa's Run Plus. Mojawa's have better sound than the Shokz, specially during windy sessions. The bass is better and clearer. Besides that, Mojawa's are much easier to control during exercise sessions. The buttons functionality and the command sound feedbacks are great. Another plus is the fact that you can store your favorite music in the Mojawa's memory, so you don't need to carry your phone around (you can't do this with the Shokz). Very helpful during swim or any other activity where you do not want to carry your phone. Another great difference is the clarity on phone conversations. With the Shokz I had to stop my ride while having a phone call. The Mojawa's let you have a clear conversation just slowing down your ride (if there is wind or other external noise). If you enjoy listening to music, podcast, etc., during your rides or workouts, while being aware of your surroundings, you have to try this headphones.

My wife owns a pair of Shokz, and I love the bone conduction concept. She paid a lot for hers, and I think they sound awful. So I researched these headphones- and the reviews were solid. I had low expectations going in- but I didn’t care because I wanted something to pair with my Apple Watch while I swim. I thought it was be fun to listen to audiobooks, the news, or even some music despite the fact that the sound quality would likely be a hot mess. I didn’t research enough- but I’m posting here to save you the hassle. Sound Quality: If you’re buying these hoping to have a satisfying music listening experience, take that of your list now. The GOOD news is they sounded as good as the Shokz for a fraction of the cost. The BAD news is that’s a really low bar, and these were awful sounding. Function: the headset paired easily with my watch, and I was eager to get in the pool and give them a shot! The idea of drowning out the screaming kids at the town pool or just flowing around enjoying an audiobook was exciting. The reality: THE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO KNOW that I didnt see in any of my my research (and this goes all EVERY brand of headphones): BLUETOOTH CAN’T PASS THROUGH WATER!!! I don’t know how I didn’t see this anywhere! I put the headphones on and thought “ok- they don’t sound great- but at least it’s something”, and worked my way into the pool. THE MOMENT MY HAND (and watch) were submerged- I lost sound. It took me a minute to make that connection. So I figured I’d be clever. Forget the watch. I’ll set my phone closer to the pool and connect to it. But again- the minute my head went into the water- even just leaving back to float- the connect cut out. At that point, I got out of the pool and did some googling… and that’s when I learned about the limitations of water and Bluetooth. The bottom line: this unit comes with internal memory so you can load a bunch of music to enjoy while swimming. That skirts the whole Bluetooth issue. It’s also worth noting that when you have this on the your head goes under water, the sound changes DRAMATICALLY! It’s MUCH louder and you suddenly get MUCH more bass! While that sounds cool- it’s very disconcerting when using. Every time your head comes up out of the water, the music gets really quiet, and then BOOM- back to blasting. I hope this helps someone understand the limitations- not just for this unit, but for all headphones in this style.

I got these for work, as my job requires me to be aware of my surroundings. I am overall pretty satisfied with these headphones. Sound: The bass is actually decent for bone conduction headphones, they still sound a bit thin when compared to normal headphones or earbuds, but the bass is at least present in my opinion. The only gripe I have with the sound quality is that I hear some distortion in certain frequencies with certain instruments. I notice it a lot more when listening to something like synthwave, or something like dark ambient music. Anything with a synth playing at certain droning frequencies will cause distortion. This typically happens at the low midrange frequency areas. Other than that, they sound relatively clear. Phone Calls: They also work great for phone calls, I was told my voice is easily audible and easy to understand when using these for phone calls. Water resistance: I have used these daily for about a month, I even take them with me in the shower, and they have been flawless, no hiccups or anything of that nature, they just work, at least for now, who knows if this will be the case as time goes on. Battery Life: I get around 6-8 hrs on a single charge when listening at about a 70% volume. The battery life you get is determined by what you are listening to, you may get more than 8 hrs if you listen to podcasts or very mellow music at a lower volume, or you might get less than 6 hrs if you listen to a lot of bass heavy music at a moderately high volume, but for me I at least get 6 hrs. Overall: I think these are a decent purchase, the distortion is present when listening to certain tracks (turning the volume down does not lessen the distortion), but it isn't enough to bother me since its not super annoying, I'm not sure if its just my pair that's doing it or not, they work good enough for me not to want to deal with returning it and waiting for another pair.

This is the bone conduction headset you want to buy! But be forewarned that "learning the ropes" will test your nerves. Well, not if you read this interview. The engineers who design these products are clever. Clever to the point of driving a sane person bonkers. The instructions are straight forward and do tell you exactly what you need to do. BUT. And this is a very big BUT ... don't overthink things. Just everything on the single button controls work slick. It's when you come to the volume control which is also how you get into shuffle, repeat, and normal modes. Volume up or down is literally a finger swipe up or down. The trickiest of all tricky maneuvers I've ever experienced on electronic devices is getting into shuffle or repeat mode. Normal mode (play songs in the order they are on the device) is the default. So to get to shuffle or repeat you use that volume control by tapping twice to get into whatever mode you want, shuffle, repeat, or normal. Also, one other thing to watch out for is that the device just stops playing music. I don't know why. So I figured out the "fix" for that. You just turn it off and turn it back on again. Also, four taps locks the headset so you can't accidentally click anything. And the sound is spectacular!

UPDATE: They broke at the same spot as everyone else's who has left a review. So for that, I have to take 2 stars away. They did work fine for almost 2 years of heavy use (5 days a week at the gym), but seeing how they all seem to break at the same spot, they need to be redesigned better. A spring-metal insert for support would solve this problem. And before I even had the chance to add some glue, the earpiece connection apparently broke as well, so it's down to only the right side working. I also purchased these at $150 (which I thought was a lot at the time) and saw them recently at $99 (not on sale or with a percentage off). Figured I'd just bite the bullet and get a new set and, literally overnight, it jumped up over 100% to $199. No way. Lost another star for that. Will be buying a different set altogether. Original Review: I tried a cheaper (<$75 set) and the audio quality sucked, and they didn't fit right. Although this one was twice as much, it's far superior to the cheap ones. Quality and comfort. Well worth the cost. tl;dr - Originally purchased a set that was around $60. Sound quality was very 'tinny' and they barely fit my head correctly. They also felt very cheap and figured they would break within a few weeks at best. Sent them back. Picked up this set and I wasn't disappointed. If you're expecting audiophile quality sound, it's not going to happen. That said, these sound remarkably well. Low frequencies (bass guitar, drums, etc.) are not powerful, but the frequency range is so wide and clear, that the overall sound is very good. You can hear the highest frequencies clearly (cymbals, etc.) and the lower ones are prominent (just not 'thumping'). They also fit much nicer and I can see myself wearing them for hours with little fatigue. PLUS, this one allows you to store 32GB of music locally on the built-in headset memory chip. No need to carry your phone around just for a music source. They do work just fine as a bluetooth headset, but if you go to the gym, you can just slip these on, press and hold the power button to turn on, and off you go. They may not be from a familiar audio company, but they are worth buying.

I compared Mojawa Run Plus with Shokz Openrun Pro (regular and mini) and they both have their strongpoints. My main usage case is road and mountain biking, while also using them around the house (mechanic work, chores, etc). I have a smaller head (55.5CM circumference). TLDR: The Mojawas win, no contest. They stay on your head way better, don’t move around, have better buttons/controls, and sound about the same. USE THE APP! You can use other sound profiles and the Swim profile is great for non-swim workouts. I returned the Shokz and kept the Mojawas. The Mojawas sit tight in front and behind your ear and win for fit. This is a BIG win, in my opinion. They really feel planted. They seem to hold in place really well. The band also rides higher around your head, which keeps it from getting caught in your hair. I'm a guy and the Openrun Pro Mini's sometimes got stuck in the short hair behind my head and got irritating, so I ended up with the non-Mini. The Shokz Pro really only hold on the front of the ear and the rest kinda just hangs there . I think this is a big miss on their design. The Mojawas also do better with glasses on than the Shokz, but it wasn't a deal-breaker. The Shokz require more of a sweet spot than the Mojawas did, because of the speakers, and they often fall out of this spot on their own. I can’t imagine running with them on. The Mojawa wins for control interface, both Volume and the multi-function button. Hands down, no comparison. The Mojawa touch slider for volume gets a little annoying at times, but still less annoying than the tiny Shokz buttons. The Mojawa multi-function button is the entire 'lobe' whereas the Shokz have a tiny little one. The Mojawa sound profiles in the app make a bigger difference than Shokz. The Shokz win on sound quality, marginally. Having the open speakers that point into your ear makes for a fuller sound. The Mojawas sound good, especially if you use their app and use the Swim sound profile. The Mojawas do have better bass because they hold on your head better. I will note that the Mojawas seemed to vibrate the bones a little more, likely because they are so secured to the head. This didn't bother me after the noticing the initial change. This sound quality difference doesn’t even come close to the benefits of the Mojawa’s improved fit, so it’s a moot point for me. The sound effectiveness is the same during cycling with winds and whatnot, both are unaffected by wind, both do what they're supposed to do. I did find myself always having a higher volume on the Shokz. After using them for multiple 4hr+ bike rides, I can say I prefer the Mojawa sound profiles overall since I listen to bassier music. With the Mojawas being IP68 certified, they’re also a better choice for working out in general. The Shokz have open speaker grills and stuff does get in there. Both brands charge quickly and seem to last about the same amount of time. I always recharged after my 4 hour rides and they were still on “medium” battery.

Update 4: I've been using these for over six months now and I'm updating my overall rating to 3 stars which is up from 1 star. The first pair failed after 72 days of having them. They were replaced within a week by the manufacturer after I reported their failure. The pair I received performed significantly better than the first pair and have continued to do so for months. I would recommend these as they do seem a good value for the price but I would also consider alternatives depending on what your requirements are. Based on the new pair these are my observations: Pros: - Extremely comfortable and well fitting. I have tried several types of bone conduction headphones and these are by far the most comfortable and most secure while swimming. I do not swim with a swim cap and I don't run the goggles over them and they never feel like they are going to fall off or move out of place. - The app is semi-useful - Shuffles in MP3 mode - Sounds great in MP3 mode while swimming - Their customer support has turned out to be really great. They respond to emails in a day and they've followed up to make sure everything is good. Cons: - The controls continue to be somewhat problematic but much better than the previous pair. It is easy to put them into MP3 mode but it is sometimes (probably about 1 in 10 times) problematic to lock the buttons after doing so requiring repeated attempts. - Bluetooth sound mode isn't great...not terrible but not great. - The shuffle isn't the greatest. I have 362 songs in storage, none of which are repeated in any capacity (e.g. live and album version). Just about every time I swim, I hear at least one song get repeated and it is usually within a few songs of being played. - Headset occasionally connects via Bluetooth to my phone while swimming in MP3 mode which means I have to put it back into MP3 mode while swimming or have the music constantly cutting out. This isn't supposed to happen according to the manufacturer unless a call comes in but it is happening without calls coming in. I simply turn off Bluetooth on my phone but an extra hassle I'd rather not do. - After six months on the same headset the battery life is starting to show signs of shrinkage. I was getting 5-6 hours of use, now I'm getting about 4 hours of use. On one swim recently the headphones went from "Battery Medium" (tells you whether the battery is High, Medium, or Low when you turn them on) to powering off in 45 minutes. Update 3: So after 72 days from purchase (not delivery), these headphones no longer work as they should. Today, 20 minutes into my 90 minute lap swim session, the headphones started beeping as if the main button was being pushed at random intervals. The headphones then began to power off and power on randomly. My assessment is that the waterproof headphones are in fact, not waterproof and water had somehow gotten in them and was basically shorting them out. In summary, these headphones have been straight garbage from the beginning. The only reason I got them was because of the MP3 shuffle availability. I have only used these headphones for swimming in a pool. They have never been submerged more than a foot. I only use them for lap swim as the $60 bone conducting headphones I have are superior for Blue Tooth connectivity so I use the $60 ones for biking, walking, and everything else when Blue Tooth is an option. Other updates follow so you can see what has been happening. Updating after nearly two months of use: Main thing is I should have sent them back. Unfortunately I didn't find another headset that had the features I wanted (primarily shuffle in MP3 mode). Good: - Sound quality in MP3 mode is decent - Comfort and staying in place - It has an app (doesn't really do much though) - It shuffles in MP3 mode Bad: - Sound quality in Bluetooth mode is flat - Locking the buttons is problematic at best and doesn't always work - Myriad issues while swimming with the buttons locked (stops playing, swaps between MP3 and Bluetooth I use these for swimming only in MP3 mode. I use my much cheaper pair for biking, walking, running, pretty much anything else. Original Review Follows (with no edits): At the time of writing this I have had these Mojawa headphones for 20 days. I purchased them almost exclusively to have a set of swimming bone conducting headphones with shuffle ability and they have failed at that...and more. I will be returning them in the next few days unless the company finally responds to multiple support emails I've sent with something other than an automated email that resolves nothing. The biggest issue with these headphones is the design. The volume control is situated behind your right ear. In MP3 mode the same 'button' also controls the play mode (shuffle, normal, single-track repeat). While swimming my ear would frequently make contact with this button and continuously adjust the volume and/or change the mode. In one length of a 25m pool I would usually go from shuffle, to single loop, to normal, to shuffle, to single loop on top of the volume getting adjust numerous times (sometimes all the way up and sometimes all the way down). The instructions contain nothing about being able to lock the buttons and you won't find it on their website either. However, their automated response (which is about the only response you get when you contact them) includes a link to a Google Doc that says if you press the button four times consecutively it will disable the touch controls. I tried this, numerous times for about 30 minutes. The results of my tries have been for it not to work or for the unit to completely lock up for several minutes (stops playing music and is unresponsive to changing between Bluetooth, MP3, or even power cycling). There are other issues as well. The sound quality in Bluetooth mode is not very good. There is an app you can get to change the sound a bit but it doesn't help. My other pair of $60 bone conducting headphones sound about the same in MP3 mode and significantly better in Bluetooth mode. The transfer speed of MP3 files to the headphones is very slow. The headset has 32GBs of storage but it would take hours to transfer that much data to the headphones. It also claims to have an 8 hour battery life but I think 5-6 is more realistic. The only plus to these is that they are more comfortable and they stay in place better than my cheaper pair but I have reverted back to using my cheaper pair while I look for another set of headphones with shuffle because they work just fine with fit and comfort, they sound better, and they don't ruin my workouts like the Mojawas do.

I bought a pair of the Mojawa Run Plus headphones earlier this month. I have had bone conduction headphones for swimming and non-aquatic purposes for a number of years including early and later generations of FINIS and Shokz. I chose the Mojawa after watching a video about the latest generation bone conduction headphones on Andy's Tech Tone on YouTube, never having heard of the company before. They are easily the best set of bone conduction headphones I have used. They are exceptionally good in the water with an audio quality that is excellent for music but equally so for the spoken voice in audiobooks. This is what I wanted. They are good as well out of the water. By chance I managed to borrow both a cheaper competitor and a more expensive one. The Mojawa won hands down. They are comfortable and easy to use. One early glitch was the touch pad which is affected by the water in MP3 mode. The instructions on how to lock the touch pad were not clear at all. But an email to customer service at the company was answered promptly and I sorted it out (a quick quadruple press of the power button while in Bluetooth mode, which results in a fifth final 'plip' sound to indicate they are locked). Then move to MP3 mode by the double click (click and hold to be precise). A call out to Jessie in customer service who was outstanding in assistance. I don't tend to do reviews but these are so good, I wanted to post. Yes, the system of loading MP3 files system is laborious but that's the same for all bone conduction headphones in the water. And using AudioHijack (freeware) it is easy to convert audiobooks into MP3 files and I can swim for hours. Brilliant headphones and strongly recommended.
