Ditching tampons for these menstrual discs!
Updated review January 2025: Over a year on I’m still using these menstrual discs and I’ve recommended them to allll my friends. I’ve had no issues with leakage apart from the one instance I mentioned in my original review where my boyfriend accidentally dislodged it. They’re comfortable to wear (I often forget I have them in) and easy to clean, and although they’re more expensive than a pack of pads or tampons, by this point I’ve probably broken even. I’ve just seen another review which says they don’t last long, but this doesn’t reflect my experience so perhaps that person got a faulty product or has been a bit overzealous while cleaning (I scrub mine quite vigorously with soap before sterilising though). The fact these come as a two-pack is great as you can remove one, put the other in and clean and sterilise the first one so it’s ready for when you change it later. I can go to the toilet as normal without worrying about pushing this out or any part of it getting contaminated. I have also used them while swimming, and basically I can live my life totally as normal while wearing the disc. Can’t recommend them enough. I would love to gift these to my more eco-conscious friends or friends who struggle with pads and tampons, but I think people might find it to be a weird gift. Luckily a few of my friends have already followed my recommendation and are equally happy with the discs. Just buy them! You won’t regret it. Original review September 2023: I love these! I’ve been intrigued about menstrual discs for a while and I was going to buy the nixit disc which I think is about £40, but I had put it off for a long time as I was worried I might hate it. I have tried a menstrual cup (the moon cup) in the past and I really didn’t get on with it, I found it too stiff so it was uncomfortable to wear, and because cups rely on suction I found it really difficult to remove and was put off from ever using it again. This experience made me wonder if I would have a similar experience with discs but I wanted something more sustainable than tampons. When I saw these at about £26 for a pack of two I decided they would be a good way to try a disc without wasting too much money if it’s not for me. I’m 28 (soon to be 29) and have never been pregnant or given birth. I first tried the smaller size, which did leak but I think that’s because my boyfriend dislodged it because he was intrigued about what it was and how it fits in etc. The next day I was keen to try again so I tried the larger size, which did feel a bit bigger inside me at first, but once I relaxed I couldn’t feel it at all. They’re easy to remove with the little finger loop - the instruction say you can cut this off if you find it uncomfortable, but I can’t see how it would cause discomfort and I also think it it would make it more difficult to remove the disc. I also think that seeing the blood collected in the cup rather than it being absorbed by a pad or a tampon makes me feel more in tune with my body as I have a real sense of how heavy my flow is which I never really did before. I was kinda surprised! Additionally, we have tested the claim that you can use these to have mess free period sex and were pleasantly surprised! There was no sign of me being on my period, although my boyfriend said he could feel the disc but that it wasn’t too bad. I wanted to give them a good trial before I left the review, so I’m currently on my second period since getting them and I can confidently say I have no plans of going back to tampons. I haven’t used pads since I was in school, which is actually very risky behaviour on my part as it means that I usually use tampons overnight which promotes the risk of toxic shock syndrome. However it’s safe to use a menstrual disc overnight so this is an additional benefit. I originally thought it was kinda annoying that they come in a pack of two sizes, but both sizes work for me so that’s actually fine. My original plan was to try these first before trying the nixit disc, but I get on with these so well and they’re such good value for money, I really don’t see the point in spending almost double the amount on a single cup when I can get two for this price. Absolutely cannot fault this product; at the end of its lifespan I’m likely to buy the same product from the same brand again, and if I were to lose or damage them I wouldn’t hesitate to repurchase. A note on cleaning: I understand that if I were to sterilise this in a pan, the very act of sterilising it means that I’m not contaminating the pan. However, I don’t really like the idea of potentially cooking for myself, my boyfriend, friends and family in a pan which I’ve used to clean a menstrual product. I bought a little electric steam steriliser from amazon for about £20 which works well. I remove the disc, empty it into the toilet or shower (depending on where I am when I removed it) then clean it in either the shower or sink with shower gel or handwash. Then I use the steriliser I bought. You can buy sterilisers which are just a collapsible silicone container that you fill with water, pop your disc or cup in, and microwave. I would have bought one of these but we don’t own a microwave. If your disc has an unpleasant odour once you’ve washed and sterilised it, you may have something going on down there (I wasn’t aware I had BV the first time I used my discs. I used hydrogen peroxide to get rid of the odour and I have been fine this period after treating the BV - no unpleasant odours)

As a failed cup user, I was sceptical..
Absolutely brilliant. Can't feel it, no leaks as long as it's positioned correctly which is very easy. I have used period cups for 8 years and always had leaking, never properly sussed it out. But this disc is brilliant, it's soft and easy to position. 100% recommend. Wish I'd found it years earlier instead of carrying on with the leaky cups. It is messy to empty, you will need a sink handy, but I only hav to dp thos once a day instead of the 5+ times I was with a cup.

Discs in general are great, but these do not last long!
*UPDATE* increased to 4 stars because the customer service is brilliant, they immediately reached out and gave me a full refund upon seeing my review! Can’t fault that, and the second of the two pack I’m still using and, although it’s a little small, it’s holding up well so far! This was my first disc experience and initially it was great, albeit a learning curve (these things are genuinely inexplicable, you leak but you don’t, you only leak when you are on the toilet, how?!). However, I was rather annoyed and disgusted to find after only 4 months use that defects and tears were appearing around the rim and, despite my following the cleaning and disinfecting instructions, these defects were gathering old “dirt”! These things are meant to last years, not months! Unimpressed and now somewhat caught short. :( will be trying a more well known brand next!

Good Quality and Worth a Try - But They Didn’t Work For Me
My feelings on these are somewhat mixed. On one hand, these do work. They come in smart colours and the material is soft and flexible making them comfortable to wear. I also really appreciate the cases for protecting them - the fact that they are made of the same flexible material as the cups makes them easy to clean and sterilise. However, I have found them more prone to leaking than a traditional style of menstrual cup. In addition, they have been much messier to remove - I have definitely needed to have immediate access to a sink when using them. It might be that the shape of these are just not suited to my shape (as I can see from other reviews that there are plenty of people that aren’t having the same issues and that really like them!) so this review is really just a gentle warning that it isn’t a given that these will work for you, even if they are a good product.

It’s a yes from me!
I never leave reviews but it’s day one and i just have to! I have never used a cup or disc before, i always use tampons and panty liners towards the end of my period, i would say i have a normal flow most of the time some months can be heavier and some lighter but overall a “normal” flow. I had been looking at the Saalt disc for a few months and thought whilst i am off work over christmas it was a perfect time to try it out but delivery was going to be too long and i saw these discs and it was cheaper, came with two different sizes and could be delivered the next day so thought i would go ahead and try them. I did my research before hand on how to insert and remove a menstrual disc so i was prepared thinking it might be a bit difficult to get used to but i pinched that thing like a taco and slotted it up with no problem! I was shocked at how easy it was. I kept going back for a quick wipe for the first few hours to see if i was leaking but nothing! I am not someone who can wee with a tampon in as i hate the the thought of wee on the string and also feel like the relaxing of my pelvic floor muscles when i wee dislodges my tampon and just feels uncomfortable so I would often hold off as long as i could to go to the toilet as i knew i would want to change my tampon and it’s just annoying and is one of the reasons i wanted to try a disc. With the menstrual disc, I went for a wee whenever i needed throughout the day and it was like i had nothing up there, i could not feel it at all. It self emptied a little whilst having a wee so there was blood when wiping which according to my TikTok research is completely normal. I just slipped a finger up there when i had cleaned up to make sure the disc was still hooked behind my pubic bone. No problems what so ever taking it out, the little pull tab made it super easy. I just squatted over the toilet and carefully pulled it out. TMI but i found it super interesting to actually see the amount of blood, texture, consistency etc. I tipped it down the toilet and cleaned it in the sink, i am not squeamish when it comes to my own bodily fluids so it was no problem for me. Of course it is messy and you will get blood on your hands. If you are squeamish or don’t like the thought of having to get your fingers up there and essentially have a rummage around then a menstrual disc probably isn’t for you but it’s your lady bits and there is nothing gross or weird about it girls! I don’t see the need to buy the Saalt disc as these discs are working for me. I used the smaller one throughout the day and will try out the larger one tonight for bed tonight. Although this is only day one, i feel i am fully converted! Highly recommend trying girlies! Apologies if this was way too much sharing but there should be no shame about discussing our periods girls! Super normal and it’s fascinating and amazing what our bodies can do!

Just doesn't work for me
I bought it beginning of March and tried for a 4 periods now and it's just not working for me. It's leaking and very messy when pull out, after squeshing it to put it in, the bottom what holds blood is still fold when I am taking it out which means it doesn't have all the expansion to hold blood for long period of time. I am back to my regular cup which holds me safe for 12hrs. Also regular period cup is way cheaper! Wish there would be money back guarantee.

Should have tried it sooner
I was really doubting about changing to the menstrual disc - Its application scared me - but I have been converted. It feels a lot cleaner than tampons and application is really not that complicated, maybe it will take you a couple of tries but it's no rocket science. If you leave your house for less than 12h at a time, I don't see why not give this product a chance - as long as you don't have to empty it in a public restroom, it's all good.

Consigliato

A must have
Comfortable and easier to use than I expected. Total game changer for the night, since I usually sleep on my stomach, and this makes it easier. I purchased it for my summer vacation, but didn't need it back then, so the test in pools is pending.

CHANGED MY LIFE! BUY NOW! BEST DECISION I'VE EVER MADE. Read below.
This product has been LIFE CHANGING! DISC - AMAZING! - You can use it for 12 HOURS. - You can be on the beach not worrying if there is a string coming out of your binikis. - You do not need to worry about where you will change the tampon, or if there is a restaurant near by. - There is NO MESS what so ever, it DOESN'T LEAK. - The disc DOESN'T EFFECT YOU'RE CRAMPS at all. - There is a small learning curve of insertion but you'll have it down in 3 tries. You just need to figure out the correct size for you (the majority of women have M-L, while S is very rare). - The only thing you need to do is BOIL BEFORE monthly USE. - After 12h you empty the cup, wash it with water and reinsert it. - It's very COMFORTABLE, EASY TO USE AND SIMPLY AMAZING BECAUSE I DO NOT NEED TO DEAL WITH IT. - And additionally, it's GREAT FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. - I used to be very irritated due to menstrual products during my period, I hated needing to deal with it, the feeling of it, the insertion etc., but this really changed my life, my mood, my irritability. I FEEL MORE CALM, AND AT PEACE DURING MY PERIOD BECASUE OF THIS DISC. Product is exactly like the pictures. Pads - made me rash with the perfumes and I felt like i'm wearing a diaper. If ona. heavier flow, sometimes you would have some blood spill over during the night, whihc doesn't happen with discs. Tampons - you can't have them in for more than 3 h, and they cause cramps and the possibility of TSS. Reuasble pads - while they are nicer for the skin, good for the environment, they move around and I still feel like wearing a diaper. Also, you need to wash them and if you tarvel around that's a bit hard sometimes, but still doable. Cup - I though that would be the bets option, since you can use it for longer periods of time and can swim with it, it eneded up being horrible for me. I hated the process of inserting and it usually hurt, I hated the vacum, and even though I cut the steem, I could still feel it. All in all it was really not nice at all for me.

Compared to nixit
Been using nixit for years but realized it's way too big for me. The smaller size of this is GREAT. It's so easy to put in wow. I used to struggle. It doesn't pop out. Still has auto dump feature. Not so sure about the tail yet but can snip it off. I'm stoked. Yay
