My First Piano Lessons is a great book for beginners - both young and old! We purchased for our 7-year-old granddaughter. Instructions and diagrams are easy to follow; songs are familiar and kid friendly. Teaches hand placement and encourages good posture. Graphics are cute and add to overall appeal. Definitely recommend this book.

Kudos to the author. I’m a retired piano teacher and I opted for this instead of the Faber series for my kiddo. It’s fun and light. Lots of reading for the grown up, but the giraffe character keeps things interesting. I also like that it’s presented as 10 beginner songs. The kiddo like this framing as well.

Very clear, cute, and effective book for a beginner! My 8-year-old granddaughter is feeling very accomplished by the fact that she can quickly play actual, recognizable songs, all while learning the technicalities of reading music. I even bought a little giraffe stuffie to sit with us during lessons, to mimic G-Sharp Giraffe, the character in the music book that takes her though the lessons. Highly recommend!

Super simple and basic. Perfect for young kids in elementary grades from 5 and above. It's even good for adults who need things broken done in the simplest form. I usually get books meant for kids when I'm trying to learn something new like playing an instrument or learning a new language. It's the easiest way to learn anything new. This will teach you how to play the most basic songs with one hand (the right hand), and at the end of the lesson you should be able to master playing London Bridge using two hands, playing the Treble Clef and Bass Clef.

My 7 year old granddaughter and I are learning to play piano together - without a skilled instructor at this point. So I bought a handful of beginner piano lesson books and found this one to be the absolute best for the both of us. I understood the lessons and was able to help her understand what each page was teaching. After an hour we both learned the basics of reading sheet music and could play Mary Had a Little Lamb type songs using our newfound knowledge!

I taught my 4 year old piano from this book after trying other books (I am a music teacher too). My daughter has played all pieces in this book in 4 months and I am about to try another one from this same author. I think it makes it very easy to understand for the kiddos and easy to use as a teacher.

Great piano book for beginner kids. The layout is very appealing, the colors make it atractive and the names of the notes written on the note heads make it easy to read. Great book to start your kids on the piano.

Perfect for a new piano enthusiast

Just what I was looking for to teach a child piano lessons. It’s also a good refresher for an adult who hasn’t been playing piano for a while, reasonably priced and easy to follow.

This book helped my six year old learn simple piano songs easily with no musical experience. Easy explanations about how to recognize the keys.
