Illustrated Tales of King Arthur (Illustrated Story Collections)

My 6 year old son gets lost in these stories and has now started reading them to himself (after several readings by me so he knows the stories and names). He really loves the tales and I've enjoyed reading them too. Good for older children to immediately read to themselves too if they are more fluent readers. Lovely pictures too. Another great book from usborne!

You can't have an England without the Legend of King Arthur ...

I really enjoyed this book, which is suitable for children. Lovely illustrations, and the text really captured that melancholic sense that you want from the Arthurian myths. Merlin disappears a bit early, but otherwise this is excellent.

As an adult I loved the pictures and the way the stories are told in a child-accessible way. However it was bought for our 7 year old, and we've chosen not to read it to her until she's older as she gets very upset by things being unfair. Example: shouting at the television "it's not nice, is it miss trunchbull?!!" when Roald Dahl's Miss Trunchbull gets her comeuppance. If she gets upset by that not sure how she will cope with all the extra marital affairs in the book. And really I'm not sure 7 year olds and younger need to be exposed to extra marital affairs, even when it's part of a good story. Rating it lower, as I don't think the content is suitable for every 7 year old.

Bought this as a present for a 8 yr old. I thought the stories still held up well, especially chivalry as a everyday courtesy. Beautiful artwork alongside, I do wish the sizing had been bigger as the illustrations really do deserve your eye.

I'm an older reader with some background knowledge from when I was a schoolboy, and I loved this particular telling of the tales and the illustrations. I found it to be an easy, entertaining, read. I bought this book as a gift for an eleven year old boy, with a younger sister and an older sister. In that context, this book works as well as any, and better than most.

My grandson absolutely it!

This was a present for a 6 year old who is learning about King Arthur in school. She was thrilled with the book and although she is a bit young for some of the stories she was fascinated with the beginning and the ending chapters.

The book has some nice illustrations at the beginning of each chapter. We acquired it as an introduction to the legends of King Arthur for our son. For a six-year old, the story is sometimes still a bit complicated (and not enough pictures in between), so we switched to the Usborne Young Reading version for now. But I assume this version will be perfect when we try it again in two years.

Easy to read. A good introduction for a child and adult. I liked the drawings.

Excellent stories, my 7 year old son finished this book in less than 24 hours!! Delivery and quality of the book is top notch.

Stories are essy to read to a 4 year old. He likes the fist couple stories best. He will probably enjoy the pther ones better as he grows older.
