My cats go crazy for this - once they see me holding the package I have to fend them off! Really great that a simple freeze-dried chicken product with no other ingredients to worry about is such a hit. Only thing I don't like is that it's got a really powdery texture which ends up on the floor and all over my hands.

I have been purchasing this product, and a competing one, for the past 6 months. I'm ready to do a comparison. My cat will readily eat either brand. However, given a choice between both brands at the same time, she chooses PureBites over Whole Life, every time. Pros: The dried treats are convenient to take along. Because it isn't fortified with other vitamins, I don't have to worry about the cat getting into them and eating too much, or overdoing it during more intense training. There aren't any silicon dioxide packets in it, which I feel is safer for a home with pets. The packages have had a bit more to the weight than the package indicates, for both brands. Cons: It is less of a value than the PureBites brand, at this time. The larger sized pieces are a bit less convenient, as the cat has to wait while they are broken up. These are oddly bright white, which is not what chicken looks like in my kitchen. This makes me unsure of how it ends up this way. It is important to ensure that your pet has access to water when you use these treats. Bottom line: my cat will eat either brand when only given one choice at a time. However, given access to both brands, my cat chooses the PureBites chicken treats. At the moment, those are also a better value and look more like chicken, and I do like that. My cat gives these freeze-dried chicken treats four paws up! I’m very careful about the ingredients in the food I give her, and I’ve tried several other brands—some she completely ignores. These, however, are hands-down her all-time favorite. I ordered the larger 9 oz bag, and it lasts a surprisingly long time. I really appreciate that the ingredient list is simple—just one ingredient: chicken. It’s also a big plus for me that they’re made in the USA, where quality standards are more consistent. Even my vet gave these the thumbs up over many other brands. That said, there are a couple of minor downsides. Occasionally, I come across pieces that are extremely hard—almost rock solid—so I make sure to check them before giving them to her to avoid any risk of hurting her teeth. My biggest complaint is the amount of crumbs and dust in the bag from broken pieces. For the price, I’d expect more full-sized treats and fewer crushed bits. While I understand some breakage is normal, this feels a bit excessive. I’ve included a photo to show what I mean—the treats are in a different container (turned around so the label isn’t visible), since I wanted to better highlight the amount of crumbs. The cost is also on the higher side. I’m on a budget and want to give my cat the best, and while these do last a while (especially if used as an occasional treat), I probably won’t purchase them frequently at the current price. The downgrade in star rating is due to the price and amount of crumbs basically; the quality of the product and the vet approval is top notch, along with the fact my cat loves them.
