A break-through in protein bars... Nutritionals, Texture & Flavour.
I have always find it hard to find a protein bar that delivers the right nutritionals, whilst being filling and most importantly tasting good. I have tried a variety of bars from brands SCI-MX, USN, PHD & Grenade, however none hit the three key criteria as well as the Maximuscle Promax Protein Bar in Millionaire Shortbread flavour. Firstly, the protein per bar 20g, this is slightly lower than the MaxiNutrition Promax Bar, however 20g is all that is required for myself (75kg male) post workout to aid recovery. As with all protein bars, there is a level of sugar (9.4g) per bar which is slightly higher than some other bars on the market, however the taste of this significantly out-weights a few extra grams of sugar. Being a 'recovery' styled protein bar, the calories are in line with other generic protein bars at 202 per bar, of which 19.3g of carbs - if you're looking for something higher in calories to make those sweet, sweet, gains then go for the Maximuscle Progain Flapjack or the CNP Pro Flapjack. The second key thing was the texture and filling nature of the bar. I have often found many bars to be very chewy and hard to digest. What really surprised me is the sheer difference in texture from this Maximuscle Promax bar compared to the it's MaxiNutrition counterpart (Cookie dough is my favourite). Alike a Millionaire Shortbread, the center is almost crumble, whilst held together with a sweet caramel topping and wrapped in milk chocolate. I found that it was far easier to consume than other bars I have tried and did not stick to the roof of my mouth like others. After consuming I felt suitably full and didn't experience any uneasy stomach symptoms than can be associated with protein bars & shakes. Lastly, the taste is something that can't be overlooked. Understandably this is a functional fitness supplement aimed at helping recovery post exercise and support muscle growth, however the taste is something that leads to a repeat purchase as there is generally not too much differential between the nutritional of many bars in this category. As mentioned above, the center was crumbly and like a slightly more stodgy version of a typical shortbread, this tasted exception, however the highlight of the bar is the caramel topping. I was also pleasantly surprised for it to be encased in milk chocolate, whereas I have typically experienced these kind of bars in dark chocolate. Overall, I have found a new favourite protein bar in the Millionaire Shortbread variant which I will certainly purchase again (if I am not tempted to go with the chocolate brownie!).

These are pretty decent
They aren't the best tasting or the worst tasting protein bars I've ever had but they are a good price, good macros and fairly tasty. They are chewy but nothing to the extent of a quest bar or similar. They also taste really yummy if you take them out of the wrapper and microwave them for 10s or so. For reference, from a taste point of view barebells hazelnut nougat is my favorite bar- I rate it as a candy bar let alone a protein bar, and these aren't as good but they are also half the price, a bit less calories and quite tasty in their own right. The chocolate coating is nice as well. Looking forward to trying other flavors when they go on offer.

Unbelievable protein bars
I absolutely love these bars. The macros are incredible and make for a great snack. They're filling, taste good and have a nice little protein bump! I've since bought another 6 boxes of these. Personally, I find the cookies and cream / rocky road probably the worst flavour. Peanut is incredible, as is Salted Caramel & Banoffee, and the mint is pretty much your standard protein bar! :-)

tastes quite nice
Very pleasant taste, no chemical aftertaste. Soft texture, not hard or dry. Started out with a mild taste which seemed to get sweeter, but I have a very sweet tooth. This is for the Salted Caramel. Other flavours may vary. Calories per bar = 184 Fat = 5.5g of which are saturates = 3.1g Carbs = 13.5g of which are sugars = 1.6g of which are polyols = 9.1g Fibre = 7g Protein = 20g Salt = 0.5g Green Tea Extract = 150mg I won't reproduce the whole ingredients section, just point out it contains both whey and soy proteins, e numbers. Appears to contain no sugar, no aspartame or sucralose. Not good if you're avoiding heavily processed foods, but if that were the case you'd likely not be looking at protein bars.

There are better options, but they will come at a higher price
The macros of the bar are pretty good, except for the sugar. For 202 kcals you get, 20g of protein, with 4.9g of fat, 19.7g of carbs (9.4g sugar) and 7g of fiber. I use them as mid morning snack or mid afternoon (post workout). While they do taste like caramel and the texture is not as bad as the other maxi-muscle bars (not as artificial tasting or as rubbery), they are so sickly. Very sweet! With other brands, I cant wait to eat my protein bars but I still have over half a pack left of these after a month. Cheap as chips though compared to other brands and for 75p per bar, I cannot complain too much.

Get extra protein without unnecessary sugar/carbs!
These low sugar protein bars are amazing for anyone who's trying to up their protein but keep carbs/sugar as low as possible (4.4 net carbs), all whilst satisfying a sweet tooth. Anyone who's had protein bars before will be used to the typical texture that they have, but these salted caramel bars have small yet satisfying crispy chunks on the top which adds a slight crunch to the bars. The macros/nutritional contents are great for a protein-packed bar: ·Calories - 184 ·Protein - 20g ·Fat - 5.5g (of which are saturates - 3.1g) ·Carbs - 13.5g (of which are sugars - 1.6g) (of which are polyols - 9.1g) ·Fibre - 7g ·Salt - 0.5g ·Green Tea Extract - 150mg

Great Taste and texture
Ordered these bars as the Grenade bars had a nasty aftertaste. I have to admit I was very surprised by how good the taste was. The bar has a crunchy top layer, with a smooth peanut inside and chocolate around the whole thing. Great thing to have handy when you fancy a quick choc snack or as a quick meal when your low on time. Have had both the Mint and the Peanut bars, both great. All in all a great protein bar. Does what it says on the tin with a very good taste.
