Is the foot pedal variable or just on and off?

If you are buying the Tig-205DS TIG welder it has a foot pedal and it is just on/off not a variable one.

When i connect for tig via the pics on the machine it does nothing, i put the ground in the stick weld fitting and it welds but melts tungsten. fix???

I had the exact same problem. The instructions say to plug the “work clamp” into the positive terminal, but neither terminal is marked whether it is positive or negative. My assumption is the positive terminal is the terminal on the left when facing the machine, but that’s aN educated guess since they aren’t marked. The little symbols are confusing as they show a clamp on the right side, that would typically mean “ground” so that’s why I assume the positive is on the left. But like you I initially plugged the clamp into that side. To address the tungsten burn back, that could be many things. Gas flow incorrect, incorrect shield, dirty or contaminated tungsten. Incorrect amperage, tip too close to material being welded. Look up Mister TIG on YouTube, there are a lot of videos to help you trouble shoot your problem.

Will it weld 18ga sheet metal? I need a tig welder for automotive sheet metal work

The welder will do 18 gauge no problems. I’ve used mine for complete exhaust systems. Keep in mind, Only caveat is the argon bottle will cost you about what the welder cost. Works great putting down spot/ tack welds first to minimize warping.

Amazing unit for the price

Absolutely amazing machine. Professional welder here, experienced in aluminum fabrication and welding, bought this machine to rebuild boat transom and keel. Machine comes filled with all the same settings as expensive name-brand machines. Only complaint is it does not seem to have a base amperage setting for foot pedal control. Overall very happy with it.

Great beginner machine

This is my first experience welding. I got this machine because it is one of the cheapest welders that can do AC for aluminum. I did have an issue at first with the HF start not working. Support walked me through the process of adjusting the spark gap and it works great now. I'm not sure why it's not included in the manual, but the spark gap should be 0.8mm. Support was very responsive from YesWelder, and they speak fluent English! One minor annoyance is that the machine will not save the AC/DC setting. Every time I turn it on it is in AC mode and I have to remember to switch back to DC.

Worth every penny

Weather your a beginner or a professional welder this machine is a great choice especially at this price point I also bought the foot pedal to go with it. I needed an extra machine for an aluminum tig job I had coming up and this thing was fantastic for 1/8 th I did som 1/4 with it as well it’s only a 200 amp machine but it’s great. I recommend to anyone looking to get started tig welding it’s easy to set up and use. And has a lot of features for the price.
