Can these jars be used for traditional water-bath canning and fermentation, and do the lids provide an airtight seal?

Yes, the 2-piece lid design is specifically for water-bath canning. The vacuum seal forms as the jar cools. It’s also excellent for fermentation and pickling.

Are the metal lids rust-resistant, and what is the best way to clean them for long-term use?

Lids feature a rust-resistant finish. To maintain it, please hand wash and dry immediately with a cloth. Avoid soaking or air-drying in damp areas.

Do these jars follow standard mouth specifications for lid replacements and accessories?

Yes, these feature the Standard Wide Mouth (86mm). They are compatible with all universal 86mm accessories, including fermentation airlocks and replacement lids. The wider opening allows for easier cleaning and filling.

Is the glass durable for dishwasher and freezer use, and can it be heated in the microwave?

Made of thick soda-lime glass, these are dishwasher (glass only) and freezer safe (leave headspace). To prevent thermal shock, we do not recommend microwave or oven use.

What types of food are recommended for this specific jar size, and is it suitable for long-term pickling?

Perfect for pickling onions or beets; storing large-batch jams, overnight oats, or salad dressings. The wide mouth enables easy filling, while the split lid ensures reliable airtight sealing—ideal for home preserving and healthy meal prep.
