Fell in love with photography again
I was one of those photography majors who stopped after getting my degree. I ended up working in a field that was lucrative enough that I realized I could finally afford my dream digital camera, the 5DMKIV or whatever is the latest. It was nice and all but the WiFi part was flakey and the camera itself wasn’t actually all that inspiring. I hadn’t done any research and really didn’t know much about mirrorless cameras. I think I was just being stubborn and bought the wrong camera for me.For some reason recently, I decided to look into getting a mirrorless camera and picked up an r6. (I also finally got an L lens, the 24-70mm 2.8.) Immediately it just felt different. I felt inspired and excited. The screen is so bright and vivid. It’s touch screen too so it’s very intuitive. Honestly, that’s why I’ve always been a canon guy, Canon has always been more intuitive than Nikon. The screen is also articulate making it easy to do self portraits. It’s definitely lighter, which is nice to compensate for all the other stuff you might carry along. The pictures are clear and vivid. I felt like I was taking perfect photos with very little effort. I normally shoot in aperture priority mode or manual… every now and then in fully auto mode if things are moving fast. It was so easy to adjust everything including the ISO on the fly or I could put the ISO on auto, it just made it really easy to experiment. I’ve barely scratched the surface on all of the features thus far.I haven’t felt this excited about photography since my first medium and large format cameras. Maybe now with instant feedback, I won’t get exhausted experimenting. lol. What I’m really thankful for is how easy it was to connect to my phone or laptop. It is not buggy like the 5D. I’ve also set up my desk to use my R6 as my web cam going forward so it has that versatility. Maybe I can write this off as a tax deduction for work!Cell phones have come a long way, but they’ll never compare to a good DSLR/DSLM with a good lens. With this camera, you can’t help but look like a professional photographer.
