Is the "red" a true red, it looks orange on the screen?

It is red. It isn’t scarlet red but it is a nice shade of red.

Manufacturer said in July 2019 that they would move the zipper to the right side (correct for menswear). Have they done this yet?

Not on the ones I purchased, but it does not bother me at all.

Is this vest for women or for men?

Dear friends, welcome to Hixiaohe. This multi-pocket vest is for men, lightweight, soft and quick-drying, perfect for outdoor activities such as fishing. Our vest zipper is designed on the left as shown. Based on customer feedback, we have made changes to the next batch of products, placing the zipper on the right side. Thank you！

I bought a nevy vest. Love it. There are two side pockets; zipper on both side. Does the red one also have double side pockets?

No.the red one has a single side pocket.
