Cute catio option with combination of shelter/open spaces.
Really like the combination of open, vertical spaces and interior shelter that this design provides. There are three levels of interior space that provide shelter or just a place for kitties to hide. This was the main reason for purchase of this design over other designs we looked at. The lowest level of the design is perfect for a litter box although to access it for cleaning you do have to enter the catio through the larger door panel. We thought about modifying an area in the back with another door for ease of cleaning but decided it might impair the overall structural stability. The completed project is designed so that if you are facing it directly (in front of the narrow, open mesh end with large entry door) the windows and small cat door for food/water open toward the left. This was perfect for our space but it would be difficult to modify this arrangement to open on the opposite side for the average person. For you master woodworkers out there it would probably be no problem. Arrived in 3 boxes about a week earlier than projected at purchase (bonus!). One box was damaged at the corner but the packing inside protected the product so no defects on arrival. All product panels, screws, and fasteners were counted prior to assembly and there was exactly the number needed although as other reviewers have said the latches for the doors are flimsy and we will be replacing them. All panels were numbered with a stamp and the instructions were clear enough to follow once we organized the materials. Assembly wasn't too bad with two people. We did drill pilot holes for some of the sections and found that helpful in keeping the panels fitted together well. If one person were doing this some wood clamps would be essential for holding the sections together while screwing them so they don't get out of alignment. Once assembled all the doors are hinged well and swing open without hitting or scraping the surrounding frame. The finished product is sturdy enough that the cats can move around and there is plenty of vertical space that we plan to modify a little bit. I'm 5'10" and can almost stand up in the completed catio. The mesh part of the enclosure is probably not strong enough to add any additional perches to without reinforcement unless your cat weighs less than 5 pounds so plan on additional reinforcement for any extra kitty spaces that aren't freestanding. We haven't attached the ramp yet, it does seem too steep for the designed location and we'll probably wrap it in some sisal rope or leave it hooked to one of the lower levels. Not sure about the weather proofing. We opted for the gray painted option because it had a "water resistant" label in the description. It is painted but the paint job doesn't inspire much confidence for weather proofing and we'll be designing a tarp cover to use in the winter or during really rainy times. We also placed the catio on a cement slab and would not recommend placing it directly on grass/dirt. Besides the obvious risk of damage to the wood at the base, any uneven surface would probably cause stress on the panels and impact the overall longevity of the structure. While the structure can be moved once assembled it probably wouldn't hold up to frequent placement changes. The only negative thing was a single panel on the sliding door that opens near the top of one of the enclosures had some strange kind of mold covering it. Fortunately upon inspection of the remaining panels/doors this was the only imperfection so we opted to just remove the panel. It's currently covered with some cardboard and tape but we'll either cut another sliding piece of wood or possibly plexiglass for that spot. As always make sure there is plenty of fresh water and if hot weather is the norm for your area an outdoor thermometer is an addition we plan to add to make sure kitties aren't getting overheated.

It's good, but it's not perfect...
I purchased this pen to temporarily house feral cats before having them fixed. I live in a rural area and we have to make spay/neuter appointments a couple of weeks in advance. We are occasionally 'acquiring' new cats that just seem to appear at my house so this has become a frequent issue for me. Over the summer a mother cat and her two kittens showed up. I eventually got the mom to where I could approach and sometimes pet her. But the kittens are totally wild and you can't get anywhere near them. I ordered this and began putting their food dish inside the pen with the door propped open. They would go inside to eat, but would run out whenever I approached. So I tied a very long string to the base of the door and trapped them inside by quickly pulling it shut from a distance behind the enclosure. It worked great and now I can make the appointment knowing I will be able to get them there. There are a couple of reasons for the less than perfect rating. There was a board mislabeled and my husband spent some time trying to figure out what was amiss, before he figured out what had happened. Also he was short a couple of screws, again no major deal. But the most important thing was the quality of one of the wooden panels. There is a hole in the back of the enclosed box that was obviously already there and was stained over before packaging. It appears it was in the wood when it was processed into a panel. I would say it's the size of a nickel. Also there is also a vertical crack about a foot long, where two of the panels are warped and don't meet flush in the middle but they do on the ends. So I am going to have to use wood filler and plug the hole and crack. I just felt as much as this pen costs we shouldn't have received defective wood. Other than that, everything is great. The cats hide in the box while I am in there scooping litter or feeding them, and sometimes I see one of them peeking through the window or entry hole. I am 5'5" and have no trouble at all crouching a bit through the doorway to work inside. This pen will help me tremendously the next time I need to contain a feral cat before spay/neuter and it takes a lot of the stress away, knowing you have them safely contained before the appointment day rolls around. I forgot to mention in case anyone was wondering, the 'mesh' is basically rabbit wire. It's very sturdy and does a good job with keeping cats in and other critters out.

Purrfect!
This is a cute condo . Purchased an aluminum window pet door. Have 3 cats, they love it. Added some faux grass, pet step, kitty bed and toys. Opted for this style because it has both an inside & outside area. It’s somewhat easy to put together, did this myself. I added a piece of plywood to the bottom when build was complete. Also lifted it with onto some cinder blocks. Took the plastic windows out and added some chicken wire to the top one so air would flow better. Put a tarp on the top so I can fold it back when sunny, or cover when rainy so they can still go out to enjoy. Will be painting the outside to match the house & help the durability to last longer.

IT HAS LASTED THREW ONE NY WINTER with MODIFICATIONS!
I bought this last summer (2021) KNOWING it would need some changes. I installed this unit to an existing cage (attached to my garage window) for additional outdoor space for 2 rescued feral cats. That being said, here are some of the changes: * Leveled the ground first and used concrete pavers for flooring. Cats can't pick up pavers! * The condo was fairly easy to assemble. I just looked at the pictures and ignored the little numbered stickers. It helps if you lay out the pieces. Some of the stickers fell off anyway! * Removed a section of the back so the cats can have access to the condo from the existing cage attached to the garage. * Added 1 x 2 pine strips for additional structure. The wood is soft, do not over-screw or the wood will split. Ugh! I split the wood! * Paint/stain TBD. I should have done this last summer! * The second-floor condo opening is ridiculously small. I removed the adjacent cabinet door and used it to cover the bottom of the condo to prevent it from becoming a litter box. Too late! * Ditch the ramp. It's flimsy and dangerous. * For safety reasons, I removed the slider door and made it into a window by gluing a piece of clear acrylic on the inside. Also, screwed the little wire door completely shut. * Vertical space is wasted. Im planning on installing platforms for more lounging. Getting inside the cage through that tiny, tiny, tiny door is a challenge! * Added polycarbonate roof panels to keep out the rain, snow, and some leaves. They went in it during the winter! * New lock and 3 bolts. Plus a very heavy rock at the bottom of the door just in case! * Added a peek-a-boo window. Don't waste your money, the cats don't care! * Added a scratching post. Tree stumps are FREE! * Looking to expand their outdoor space this summer. I am considering buying another unit or this one (Aivituvin Cat House Outdoor Catio Kitty Enclosure with Super Large Enter Door, Wooden Cat Cage Condo Indoor Playpen with Platforms & Small House-71 Inch) ... again with MODIFICATIONS! * The description says LARGE RUN AREA? Haha. Not really! * Good Luck!

Spacious, cozy pet raccoon retreat.
I'm a small-framed woman, and I built this enclosure with just a screwdriver and an embarrassing amount of time, but ... finished product is perfect for the little raccoon I rescued and raised. Will be kept indoors. She has loads of toys inside, easily climbs the ramp, loves the sleeping nestbox area. Very adorable to see her peeking through the windows. Her potty pad sits under the enclosed sleeping box, and toys can be hung from the top mesh for added interest. The enclosure is big enough I can stand in it, and all areas are easily accessible for cleaning. Will hold a small cat tree, hammock, etc. Raccoon climbs the mesh and it seems to be holding up quite well so far. Latches can't be reached by her little raccoon hands from inside, so safe and escape proof. Water bottle hangs nicely on mesh. Safe home for a pet raccoon when you can't babysit outside the enclosure. (She definitely must be babysat!) She does, of course, love to come out to play and wrestle a couple times a day. Very pleased with purchase and her reaction to it, but wouldn't want to build another one. A zillion screws! The things we do for love, lol! Would've been easier if I'd had help, but built it all by myself. If I can do it, anyone can, haha! Becomes increasingly sturdy as it squares up and goes together. Good to build where you want it, cuz too big to move around without helpers. Nicely designed! Edit: Well, truly was a nice cage, maybe for a cat, or a rabbit, but I must now advise: As my raccoon grew older and stronger, the mesh was no longer sufficient. She began tearing her way out through the wire, and I would find her playing inside my furnace cold air intakes. Interesting tunnels to explore! I coaxed her out with cheese balls. She vandalized various areas of the house, as well, wearing her sweet little bandit mask while laughing at me. Anyway ... stronger wire is a must. I ended up buying a much stronger enclosure and keeping the sleeping box structure inside. Live and learn. Adult raccoons are wise, crafty, very strong, and they forget nothing. Be warned!😉🦝

My cat got killed in this!
I purchased this catio in December of 2021 and my son and I put it together while he was visiting for Christmas. In February 2022 I bought the other catio Pawhut sells with all the perches in it with plans to connect the two together and build an elevated deck to attach them to. I had been planning this for a very long time for my cats and was so excited to have finally found the perfect structures for them to enjoy the outdoors safely. In April of 2022, my two cats were in this structure in my backyard when a neighbor's newly acquired Pitbull jumped his fence and made his way into the backyard where he completely shredded the wire and attacked my cats, killing one and severely wounding the other one. The incident happened very quickly and it was a miracle one of my cats survived the attack. These structures are advertised as safe. They are not safe. They are overpriced, flimsy junk. I noticed a couple of pics from other customers showing their catios sitting on the ground outdoors. Do not do this. Do not lock a cat inside this. You might think they are safe because there is a loft inside of it but they are not. They might not make it inside in time if they panic. If you insist on purchasing this, make immediate plans to elevate it at least 4 ft off the ground, and reinforce the wire or replace it entirely with a heavy guage wire. I never even got to utilize the second catio and both structures are just sitting in my backyard vacant as a constant reminder of the cat I lost. She was beautiful and I miss her terribly.

House for crazy kitty.
So far it is doing good. I have only had it for a couple of weeks. I have a cat that has mental issues so she can't stay in the house and she is afraid to be an outside kitty so she gets her own kitty condo. I wanted to give her away to hangout in the sun but still hide when she wants to. I have a litter box on the bottom under the shelf and it stays dry even when it rains. The inside stays dry too. Wasn't to hard to put together but I would build it where you want it because moving it around too much would probably break it. I have it set up against the side of my house so it is protected from wind too. If your pet is very rotund you might need to widen the door into the house. If my 24lb cat needed to stay in there I think he would have a hard time getting in and out. Luckily the kitty in there is only around 12lbs. Would be a good house for rabbits or ferrits too if you can keep them from digging under the bottom edge.

I like it, but should add a coat of paint
This came in 3 separate boxes, so it was easy for me to cart to the area I wanted to put it together, weight was not an issue. Directions were fairly easy to follow. I'm not very mechanically minded and I was able to figure it out. The wood is soft, so I had to be careful using the electric screwdriver or the wood would split. Easy to drill the screw in too far, as well. I don't think it's weather proofed well, so I'm going to add a couple of coats of paint. Also, I'm going to put bricks under the edge so the wood is not directly on the ground. Although it says "outdoor" I think it is better for indoor only. This product works for me because I would have had a difficult time building without a kit, BUT I think the quality is not good enough for the cost. It was high for my budget and I'm worried it will not last more than 2 or 3 years, even with additional paint. I would purchase again and plan on buying extensions simply because I'm not good at building things on my own...just going to do additional weatherproofing and hope it holds together.
