They are brilliantly made with simple, bold but also captivating illustrations and they offer a new layer of interactivity for children’s books, way beyond your typical lift the flap books, without veering into annoying sound buttons. They are all great for both reading and development of fine motor skills, though don’t expect a complex story, or any story at all for that matter. Where it excels is introducing topics and items related to said topic. Great for early language building. This Halloween edition of the peekaboo series does not disappoint compared to the others. We bought it as a simple way to introduce our daughter to Halloween and she has loved it. At 21 months she is even able to label many of the items in the book. She has been pulling it out to have a look at throughout the year. Despite my daughter having enjoyed the book from a young age, it is only more recently that she has been able to manipulate the interactive components; my one critique of the series as a whole is that the sliders can be a little stiff.
