The red wire(ACC) is a signal wire and the yellow wire(BAT) is the power wire.

Q: Why can't the dash cam be activated by plugging in the yellow wire(BAT)?

If only the yellow wire (BAT) is connected, the dash cam can boot directly, but there is no signal to prove that the car is turned off, so the parking monitoring function of the dash cam cannot be activated.

Q: Why doesn't it work after a period of use?

The Hardwire Kit comes with a sensitive voltage sensing switch, it will monitor the car battery voltage in real-time.
