Fantastic picture quality and smooth performance!
Iโm really impressed with the Toshiba 55QF5D53DB QLED 4K Smart Fire TV! The picture quality is sharp, vibrant, and offers great contrast, especially when watching 4K content. The smart features work seamlessly with easy access to streaming apps like Netflix and Amazon Prime. The setup was straightforward, and the remote is user-friendly. The sound quality is decent, though Iโd recommend a soundbar for a more immersive experience. Overall, itโs an excellent TV for the price with great value for streaming and gaming. Highly recommended!

Excellent Value with Advanced Features
The Toshiba 50QF5D53DB QLED 4K Smart Fire TV is a great TV for the price, offering an impressive mix of picture quality, sound, and smart features. The QLED 4K display delivers sharp detail, vibrant colours, and good brightness, while HDR10 support enhances contrast for a more immersive viewing experience. The TRU Picture Engine does a good job of upscaling content and keeping images clear and smooth, whether youโre watching live TV or streaming in Ultra HD. Sound quality is also better than expected in this price range, with clear dialogue and balanced audio that works well for everyday viewing without immediately needing a soundbar. With Fire TV built in, navigation is fast and simple, giving easy access to popular streaming apps alongside Freeview for live TV. Voice control and smart features feel responsive and modern, adding to the overall convenience. Overall, this is an excellent-value TV that delivers strong picture and sound quality with advanced features youโd usually expect from more expensive models. A solid choice if you want a feature-packed 4K QLED TV without overspending.

fantastic TV for this price
Review after a month, I was initially skeptical about this product, knowing it might not match the quality of brands like Sony or Samsung. However, this TV is impressive and performs quite well in terms of its budget and features. I would have given it five stars if not for the sound quality it does decent as it is doulby atmos but sometimes you have to swap the sound to get the speaking voice in clarity, the picture and screen are vibrant, and the 4K resolution looks fantastic. The operating speed when switching between apps is decent, without being too slow. 65-inch is massive and feels like a mini home theater for me but eventually, we got used to the screen size.

Not worth the frustration
When it works, itโs actually not too bad at all for the price. But, constantly resets when watching anything on the apps, which is infuriating beyond belief. It seems this is a common problem, judging by the guides available online to overcome this. But Iโve had enough of having to turn off and unplug from the mains, clearing caches, factory reseting, checking for updates etc etc. I donโt expect flawless performance forever from modern TVโs, but Iโve owned this for less than 2 years and the last 18 months have been like this, becoming more frequent recently, even when watching Freeview through an aerial.

Toshiba 70 inch 4K smart TV
I've had this TV a couple of weeks now, the picture is fantastic and I'm happy with the integrated apps. I like the fact it shows picture in picture on my Ring doorbell and has Alexa voice control. Lots of options to personalise the picture and sound to your own taste. The sound is good for a TV this size, obviously if you want a bit more of a cinema experience you might want to add a sound bar. Great TV and easy set up with a quick start guide, glad I got this TV on a Black Friday deal :-)

Good value mid-range large TV
For context in 2012 I was looking for a high quality large TV for our lounge. I bought a top-of-the-range 60 inch Samsung LED backlit LCD TV and was horrified by the backlight bleed - irregular clouds of white. I tried another and it was the same. I can't remember what the state of OLED was at the time, but I went for a 60 inch plasma instead and was happy. Over the years I realised that when it came to replace it I would have to get an OLED because I hated the not-black black in the LCD TVs. Fast forward to 2023 and the plasma died. We're planning to move house sometime soon so buying a new OLED TV which may not be suitable for the new house seems like a bad idea. The plasma died too soon. After seeing used TVs sell for far too much I decided to buy a new TV for the lounge that was cheap enough that it could be demoted to another room in a new house. Being close to Thanksgiving I waited for black Friday deals and saw this TV for a 5% discount. There were cheaper ones but without QLED and from what I understand about the technology I thought it was worth the extra. I considered both Hisense and TCL TVs but the equivalents were actually more that this one. I knew that although it has the Toshiba brand it is actually made by Vestel, but I have some experience of products from that Turkish company so I wasn't deterred. So I've had it a week now and I am quite pleased with the TV. There are no misbehaving pixels which rather surprised me (the plasma had one and my Samsung ultrawide monitor has one). For the price the picture seems very good and the QLED makes it much more vibrant that regular LCD. As expected the screen displays grey from the LED backlight instead of black, however it is mostly uniform and therefore not irritating like the bleed from those Samsung TVs had been. I am using the TV with a separate 5.1 sound system but when I first set it up the internal speakers did not sound terrible to me. Mechanically the TV shows its price - it is just good enough. The manufacturing finish is only medium quality and on the stand the TV will easily wobble. I have it wall-mounted and this makes it obvious that the chassis can flex a little. Of course this is no problem once it is on the wall. The VESA mounts are 400x200 which is minimal for a 65 inch TV and they are low on the TV - I had to use adaptor plates to extend my wall mount so that it does not sit too high. The Fire TV UI seems fine to me - just another build of Android TV. There seems to be plenty of configuration options - too many for me to care about much. 4K streaming from the included apps is fine although I may still use my NVIDIA Shield TV via HDMI because I am used to it. What I am a little disappointed in is the time the TV takes to turn on, especially if it was last configured to the tuner. Compared to the older TVs I have been used to it is too long. I would prefer a TV whose tuner is separate from the Android TV. However this is not a deal-breaker and I'll just get used to it - I stream far more than I watch live TV anyway. Overall I think I made the right decision buying this TV. The big brands have non-QLED TVs for more than this and I am not convinced that there would be anything about them that would make that extra money seem worth it. Whilst I accept that some of the competitor QLED TVs might be better, they do cost more, and in many cases a lot more. I definitely recommend this TV as a good value mid-range large TV. UPDATE: I have got used to the slightly slower start-up time. Sometimes it seems quite quick and other times it takes longer. It is tolerable. Streaming on Fire TV is also mostly fine, but I found that ITVX could sometimes seem a bit stuttery, as if the picture was overcompressed and this was causing a decompression lag. The difference was obvious when watching ITVX from my Shield TV so I am mostly using the latter (except for C4 which is still not supported). I found that my old HDMI cables needed to be replaced to higher spec so that 4K and CEC ARC worked properly, and the Amazon basics cables are great. I still have no regrets about buying this TV, however I shall be buying an OLED TV in the future because LCD blacks in a darkened room are simply not black enough.

Not bad for the money
Picture quality is fantastic. But the sound is a bit muted, lacking base. Suggest buying a soundbar to pair with it and then you have a great setup
