I expected this scraper to be difficult to handle and ineffective as previous magnetic scalers had been but this was an absolute dream for clearing a very algae fouled glass ‘picture window’ tank. My tank sits between the kitchen and dining room in the wall itself so is very narrow, very deep and almost impossible to clean by simply thrusting your arm in and scraping manually. Also due to the large volume if glass vs water and exposure to direct sunlight it can get a lot of algae even with bristle noses doing their best to remove it. As I can’t reach the bottom of the tank I need either a long pole based scraper or one of these magnetic ones every week or so in the spring and summer months to tackle the green and sometimes red or brown flecks welded to the glass without scratching it or scrubbing at the glass so hard it weakens the integrity of the joins. These pads have a piece of card between them when you first get them out of the box - this enabled you to easily slide them apart by turning them 90 degrees from each other. Under no circumstances bring them within 6 inches of each other without the card in place as it is very difficult to get them apart again. Once they have attracted to each other the Velcro surfaces (smooth on the outside of the tank and rough side on the inside) and the exceptionally strong magnets will stick the pads together so it is no longer possible to turn them through 90 degrees to loosen them. I managed to get them apart by gently sliding 2 butter knives between the pads and then turning them and sliding them off each other. Once you put on either the plastic or blade attachment for the pad that goes in the tank just drop it in anywhere it will float happily. Then put the outside pad on the tank near where the other one is floating - they will attract to each other and line up perfectly. It is quite difficult to move the pads over the glass if you have an algae build up but it will after a couple of passes remove the worst of it. Move slowly across the glass pushing forward with the scraping attachment as the leading edge rather than ‘scrubbing’ backwards and forwards. When finished just turn the outside pad at 90 degrees to the inside pad and you will be able to lift it away and retrieve the floating pad. If you move too fast the inside pad won’t be able to scrape effectively and may become unattached to the outside brush so slow and steady is the best option. I would definitely buy these again when the scraper edges or velcro roughness wears down, it helps to remove algae but also gets damaged by the roughness of the particles attached to the glass over time.

Wow, my glass has never been so clean! So much easier than trying to do it with a scraper (I always manage to miss bits). Super strong magnet and really easy to use and really quick so easy to do whenever needed. The medium size is big. I have a 240l tank and it’s a perfect size. Well worth the money.

Super strong magnet, make sure you keep the card in between the 2 halves when not in use or you will struggle to get them apart again!!! 😂 Does what it is supposed to do and cleans the inside and outside of the aquarium very well and is well made. Would recommend.

A product that makes life easier with the speed of cleaning an aquarium glass. Saves a great deal of time. Worth the money. Time is money!
