how well do they work for thicker toenails

They work decent, and the clipper design is well engineered in that they are built sturdy. it could trim any fingernail and toenail. Absolutely love the product.

How well does this product cut toe nails?

I find it works quite well. It is great for my fingernails and toenail, the non-slip handle does keep them from slipping out of my hand. The clipper open wide enough to get a good grip on misshapen nails; the handle can provide the pressure necessary to cut them; and the rotary head is really effective for getting at hard-to-reach toes.

Is the handle plastic?

No, returned one that was plastic for this. Plastic handle did not work on thick nails This on works great!!
