I have a chrome cast device at home, and I purchased this thinking it would work similarly and for a lower price. Unfortunately this did not work the same. I have an iPhone and tried “casting” from my YouTube and Prime Video Apps. If you try YouTube it will cast the video thumbnail and play audio, but the actual video plays only on my phone. On Prime no casting device was found, and airplay was unavailable. You have to go to the control center on your phone and choose to mirror your whole phone screen. The play back lags at times on YouTube, on Prime video a lot of the content is not permitted to be mirrored, and who wants to watch something with people and suddenly your text messages and notifications pop up on the tv. It also ties up your phone so you can’t use it and watch something at once without disrupting the video. The chrome cast I have allows you to cast from every app, and you can still use your phone to look up the next video or answer a text without everyone seeing your phone screen activity so I’m just going to get another chrome cast. I’m sure this is fine if you’re just trying to put your phone screen up to share something, but there are better products out there.

I have had this for several years and it is one of the best tech hacks I have bought. Works seamlessly with its own WiFi.

This product seems to work well at first, as long as there's a clear line of sight between the Miracast antenna and the laptop/phone etc. The problem we have found in the past two weeks of testing has been it's quality of service gradually degrades the longer your are connected to it, at some point it will just stop casting completely and you have to restart the computer/cast device to repair it. It wreaks of a memory leak issue. I feel that if the firmware were upgraded this issue could potentially be fixed. The only other thought is the device may be getting a bit too warm and causing memory issues as well

This device is NOT plug-and-play like Google's Chromecast dongle. Documentation sucks, and it was a struggle to get working, even though I have 30+ years I.T. experience. NOT RECOMMENDED.

Looks a lot like a Chromecast. If you read carefully you can easily see its not. But deceptive marketing being what it is, two stars is what you get. All that said, the directions to set it up are somewhat complicated, but it DOES work.
