Update after over a week of use, my dog had been suffering from skin allergies and then mange for awhile. Nothing seemed to work at all. We started putting this on him and after about the 4th-5th day we started seeing more hair growing back in on his back. It does stink. It doesn’t smell too bad straight out of the bottle but as it sits, it smells bad! The whole house smelled like it even though we applied it outside and crated our dog to the basement. It’s kind of a pain to seclude him away during treatment because we have cats and you also have to be extra cautious not getting it on you or any furniture. Will update again after longer use.

Not one to write reviews but in this case I had to. First off the product works great honestly! My dog had severe mange and within a week I’ve seen a difference. No more redness or scabs on her skin! All gone just gone! Wow! Now the cons.. it is very oily and may stain if you have your dog inside. I would definitely recommend isolating your dog until treatment is complete. I will be back in the future. I am not a robot and I will most definitely be back if needed! Thank you! -Louie

I have been dealing with my dog losing hair with terrible spots for a few months. We have several dogs and no one else is experiencing what she is. We thought food, we tried vitamins, flea medications, medicated baths, medications to not avail . Nothing helped more than a few days to relieve her itching so I found Happy Jack. Read the reviews thought I need to give this my best shot. I received happy Jack on 6/26. Today is 7/1 and I’m happy to report that application every other day is showing so much improvement. She has new stubble and I’m so happy this product worked for her. It smells like OFF the bug spray. A little went a long way. I used gloves and applied outside and we hung out for 15/20 mins before coming in so I’m not sure why other people are having issues with the smell or the smell lingering. As it did not linger once it dried. She still has a long way to go but less than a week and I’m confident she will be great in 4-6 wks. 8/20/26: I am editing this photo to update where my girl is in her healing. We are happy with how it looks. So much better! It worked as intended. It didn’t smell terrible. I sprayed on outside, wore a glove to rub it in, she is kennel trained so she kenneled to dry and viola it was perfect. She still has a ways to go but we are happy with where she’s at!

First off, let’s address the big thing everyone is complaining about: the smell. Reports of the odor are WAY overblown. It doesn’t smell like eggs. It doesn’t smell strongly of chemicals. It smells like a cross between Vicks vapor rub and mineral oil. Yeah, it’s not Chanel No. 5– but people saying it puts off noxious fumes are being ridiculous. It’s entirely bearable. Also, the instructions on the package aren’t very clear: you aren’t supposed to wash it off your dog. It’s a leave-on treatment. Apply once daily or twice for difficult stubborn cases or problem areas. Application isn’t a lot of fun. It’s greasy and messy and, if your dog is losing hair due to mange, it turns into a big mess. Also, you’re going to have to let your dog dry for AT LEAST an hour or they’re going to leave a big yellow grease stain on whatever absorbent material they come across. My dog found relief after a single application— and after a few more, his skin began to heal up and fur stubble started growing back. If you can’t afford a $400 trip to the vet where they do a skin scrape and send off for lab results (all so they can write you a script for a $30 chewable tablet), this is the next best thing. It’s not quick, easy or pleasant— but it’s not the ordeal many people here in the reviews are making it out to be either.

I have used this product for 2 weeks on my dog (bathing 1x/week). It seems to really be doing the job! My poor dog battled mange before I got him, and our vet seemed very dismissive of his current SEVERE itching being attributed to that (although my cousin who is a vet tech believes 100% that is the cause). The vet put him on Apoquel, which didn't do the job, and I learned it can actually make mange worse! This (shampoo) was a solution I could try without a prescription, that was also not expensive, so since I tried everything else, I thought it was worth a shot. So glad it seems to be working (although it takes 30-60 days to rid a dog of all Sarcoptic Mange). On the downside - be prepared, as it contains sulfur and Turpentine - so you will want/need to cover all your furniture for the duration of the treatment (it's a bit oily and yellow and can stain if you aren't careful), and it's not a pleasant odor - but it seems to be what it takes to kill off the mites that burrow into the skin. So far, I'm happy with the results - will be curious to see where we are with it in another 4-6 weeks! For full transparency, I also increased his intake of foods and supplements to strengthen the skins ability to bounce back, along with this treatment - but again, I think this has helped tremendously, so far.

This product seems to provide significant relief for itchy conditions, however, it does make the entire house stink to use it.

This may have worked, but it ruined my life quite literally. My dogs had itchy flaky skin. Didn't know what it was, vet didn't know either. I bought this to try and their skin seems better for now, after my one an only use. Now I slathered their whole body in it and I used the whole bottle. I did 2 of my 3 dogs as the puppy didn't seem affected with the dry, flaky skin. The smell was strong. It's winter so I did it in my shower downstairs. It made me lightheaded, it didn't stink though just like a chemical pine smell. You don't rinse so I assumed it would be absorbed. I stuck the dogs in the laundry room for 24 hours but had to let them out so briefly they jumped on furniture and ect cause they had been locked up for so long and when I let them out they were excited. but the stuff never got fully absorbed and they were still wet 24 hours later. I left it on for another 12 and then bathed them. It took like 6 washed to get it off. However, my house weeks later still stinks. It took like 12 washed to get the sent out of my blankets. The smell is probably still in my carpet or on my couch. I carpet cleaned 3 times and steamed cleaned my couch several times. The smell has morphed into different smells over the week. From pee to rotten to whatever it is now, I couldn't even describe it. Thankfully it's starting to fade. But it's been weeks. I've bathed my dogs with special medicated shampoos trying to get smell out so not sure what cured them, but at least they are better. If you use this make sure it's summer so you can do it outside and preferably have like a cage to keep them and separate from your main living area. I bought 2 bottles and returned the second cause it quite literally has ruined my life the last several weeks. I've used baking soda and vinegar and all sorts of stuff to clean with and it's still there. Even the clothes I washed in my washer after started smelling like this stuff. It's been a nightmare. Do not recommend. My husband said never use this stuff again. And he has a very poor sense of smell.

Our pup was suffering from demodex mange and rather than starting him on a long course of Ivermectin (with it's possible severe side effects), we opted to try this even though it specified it was for sarcoptic mange mites. I have no way of knowing that this product worked or if it was the immune system finally kicking in or the shampoo/oil treatments that we were also using, but his mange appeared to be eliminated after two treatments. Our shar-pei mix pup was a rescue that we fostered, along with his two siblings, from age 4 weeks to 11 weeks, at which time we adopted our boy. All the pups had a slight thinning of hair in areas, which we attributed to the poor conditions/nutrition of the young pups. About the time we adopted him officially and he was neutered by the shelter, his thinning patches turned into bald spots and over the next couple of months it continued to get worse. We did everything we could to support his immune system and bathed him with a medicated shampoo provided by the vet, however the hair loss continued and the mange patches spread. We made one final attempt to clear up his mange without resorting to Ivermectin. We bathed with the medicated shampoo provided by the vet to open up the follicles, and, when dry, we applied the Sardex II to all the patchy areas (basically his entire body), applying carefully to his face by spraying into our hands first. He was a little freaked out by the aerosol, but didn't seem to have any reactions or side effects. We let the Sardex II dry and re-applied, as per instructions. After a few days, our pup seemed very itchy and had lots of flaking skin in the mange areas only. We had read that this could happen when the mites push their way to the surface. To help soothe the itching, and because we had read quite a bit about various oils being used to treat mange, we coated the pup in coconut oil (which he LOVED). We left this on him for about 24 hours, and then shampoo'd him with a coal tar / sulfur shampoo (we used SynergyLabs Veterinary Formula Clinical Care Antiparasitic & Antiseborrheic Medicated Shampoo). We repeated this whole treatment at 7 days (the Sardex II specifies to repeat every 7 days until the mange is resolved). We thought we would be treating a third time, but noticed that new hair was growing in the bald areas. We decided to hold off a little longer. Now, one month later, his coat is completely grown back with the exception of a very small amount of thinning around the one eye where the mange started. We will continue to monitor that site. Having dealt with mange in previous foster dogs that were treated with the standard Ivermectin course, I felt like this was a very fast resolution of the issue. I would certainly suggest it for those who want or need to avoid Ivermectin, or who would like to try an alternative treatment first. As another person mentioned, this product does contain benzyl benzoate, which is used in other countries for the treatment of scabies and mange, and the research shows it to be highly effective against scabies / sarcoptic mange. I wasn't sure how well it would treat demodex (confirmed by skin scraping), but it certainly seemed to help quickly! And in case you are wondering how much a can treats, we basically treated our 50 lb puppy (very short coat) for two weeks and it feels like the can is still quite full. I would guess we could have gotten another 3 or 4 weeks out of it, or treated multiple dogs quite easily. A note on my photos - The mange around the eye, first photo was taken 11/20/2014, before the first treatment. Second photo was taken 12/13/2014, and it has continued to fill in. On the shoulder, the first photo was taken on 11/25/2014, the second 11/30/2014 (the new coat was just starting to grow back in), the third on 01/01/2015 (no sign of the mange at all). I wish I had been able to document this better, but trying to get a puppy to hold still can be a challenge :).

Does the job. Use sparingly, a little goes a long way.

I know this is a good product but I had to reorder the product do to damaged in shipment. Please ship this in a box. The thin bag offered no protection from impact.
