Wooden Hedgehog House - Hibernation Shelter - Hedgehogs Home

Lovely sturdy well made house! Looks really lovely in garden! After a month we have hedgehogs!!! I leave food in every night and every morning it's gone, finally caught the BiG guy in action this evening... Yay! Can't really see in the photos as it's dark but he's in there munching away:)

Great Customer service, 1st one came and was sub standard with crack right along , but after a wee email a replacement was sent out at no cost up to the Highlands. It will make a grand winter house for a Hedgehog.

It's very sturdy but I would have liked a floor. I have made a floor for it myself

This was more solid and bigger than I expected. It doesn't have a floor, but as long as you put dry leaves in it, that's OK. It came ready assembled, so no need for hammers and nails! It fitted nicely into a little spot in the garden. Just waiting to see if someone occupies it.

Purchased this to place under leaf pile for garden hedgehog. No tennant yet, but that could change over time. This house does not come with flooring. I placed a mixture of dried leaves and grass, for the flooring. After a bad storm, I checked and the internal structure was dry. When locating, make sure the ground does not slope down towards the doorway of the house, this will create damp conditions. Place in a quiet, well covered area. Hedgehogs like to 'feather' their own nest so leave some dried leaves,or hay close to the entrance. Once located leave the house alone until spring. Once hogs are into their hibenation period, I will cover the house with layers of leaves, to add further insolation. Can I suggest leave hog food out water closeby over winter, hogs do tend to awake at least once over the winter, if mild conditions, to feed. We also have a garden fox, so Im sure he will make use of any abandoned food on the dish.

I got one of these last Christmas as a present and it is now occupied by a Hedgehog which set up home in about September (I think). It is placed under a hedge out of the way so ideal for the critters. . . . . Anyway this year I bought one for a friend as a Christmas present and he is happy and will I hope have a hibernating Hedgehog next year. Basically if the Hedgehogs are happy then it is doing its job and that is great.
